Title: 2012 the movie
Post by: Badgersmilk on November 24, 2009, 03:16:34 PM
Anybody here seen it?

Just watched it on-line.   ::) ::) ::)  Don't waste your money at the theater!

Non-stop "close calls" make it so rediculously goofy that Sponge Bob is more realistic.  You know the ones, defusing the bomb with one second to go, jumping an RV like Evil Kenevil, exc., exc., kinda stuff.   ::)

Worste B movie I've seen in years.  I'm guessing the kiddy vampire movie out right now is far better if you find yourselves at the the theater.

Everytime I see an add for 2012, the world ending due to a Mayan prediction, I keep thinking of an SNL skit. Remember Apocalyto, the three hour Mel Gibson gore fest filmed in Mayan with English subtitles? Surely we all watched it? ::) Anyway, it came out right after Mel got popped for DUI and made anti-semtic comments to the arresting officer (always a winning strategy). The film opened apparently with the words, what could make a mighty civilization fall. The narrator intones, The Jews. Flash forward to panicked Mayan warriors screaming "the jews are coming, the jews are coming."  ;D I think I'll file 2012 up there with The Chronicles of the Elders of Zion, only with a big special effects budget, which they paid for by doing away with screen writers or a plot, dialouge etc. ::)
FQ13 who thinks M'lette just has an Anita Blake envy thing going. I'll mail a wooden stake because I know poor Marshall has had to cast silver 124 gr JHPs. ;D ;D ;D

I thought it was good. I actually paid to see it in theater with all to cool surround sound and 20' screen. I agree the story is a little crappy but the same was said for one of my favorite shows Stargate. I loved the FX mainly because of my time working with computer aided animatic elements. Really cool twist at the end. So say what you will but every now and then I just want a good movie that takes my mind of the crap in this world. And surprisingly Glover, in his attempt to portray the anointed Lord Obama, actually portrayed a President I could get along with. Even though now such person could possibly exist outside the realm of hollywood.

FQ, WTF? ? ? ? ?

Off your meds?

Interesting little left-turn there.  How does that work? Talk about a crappy B movie like 2012 is cause for Mel-bashing, and bashing of a particularly vile kind? It's wrong when he does it, but supposed to be funny when you do it?

We all deviate from the topic on occasion ( ::) ) but this is another sign of a serious malfunction upstairs. Ya know, splinters in the windmills of your mind.

Path
It was a joke. AND a joke supported by facts. I am a Mel fan, Mad Max, Lethal Weapon et al. BUT the whole Mayan blood bath subtitled into English, I didn't make up. Nor did I make up Gibson's accussing the cop who popped him of being a jew, in pretty ugly terms. You may see it as "Mell bashing in particularly ugly terms", me, I see it as the facts. I have no dog in this this fight. Just bringing up something I found funny at the time. I would suggest that you need to lighten up a bit and learn that laughing at Hollyweird isn't a partisan sport. Left wing or right, they all seem to have a few screws loose. My "serious malfunction" seems to be having an equal opportunity sense of humor. Check it out sometime, it will lighten your day. Again Path, LIGHTEN UP!

Alright, I admit, went to the first vampire movie with my daughter, and it was actually good enough that I'd be willing to go back to the second one with her.  An awful lot of lovey dovey mess, but it was actually pretty entertaining, had a story, and quality special effects.  So, not to bad!  You have to admit, they could have gotten a leading lady that was a LOT prettier, and the lovey dovey stuff wouldn't ave been so bad.  Plus then they would have REALLY had something worth fighting over.   ;)

Even my daughter mentioned her being a disapointment compared to they way they talked about her in the book.

Judging from the previews, I think it was all packed in the gulf stream (the bugout bag for the discriminating survivalist). ;D Note to the discriminating: Hire a pilot who realizes your ceiling is 40,000 feet, not 40. ::)

Without "spoiling" the movie for anyone.  :-\  I can probably devulge that in the movie the Chinese government had what would amount to be the "bug out bag" and saved peoples bacon.

From the movie.  "Leave it to the Chinese"
