Again, I'm probably late to the party.
Years ago, when I shot IHMSA, I cut out of 1/2" plywood master targets for Big Bore, Field Pistol and .22. The idea was I would use them to cut black paper or poster board targets.
Duh-h-h-h-h. Negative work so much better, So below are some pictures of my cutouts. After cleaning up the basement when the last kid flew the nest I ended up with a number 1/8" brown boards that were used to frame/hang posters. What ideal material for making stencils.
I cut out my .22 and FP IHMSA targets and I cut a pair of 8" circles (6" spacing) for Bianchi Cup practice.

And here's what a target looks like that I paint and used last week. (the extra holes were from using it later that session as a backer for other targets.)

(As required by the board my foot is in the picture.)

Dude! Pictures?

Give me a sec. I hit <return> to soon and had to edit the post.
Okay, they are up.

That's a great idea Alf.

Masonite. That's the name of the stuff......couldn't remember earlier. Smooth and tough on one side, rough on the other, makes an ideal stencil for painting targets.
(if you see IHMSA like graffiti spray painted around town, I didn't do it......just saying....)

Good idea Alf.

Half credit on foot ::) SOP around here is
claws naked toes .... Forget that, I'm happy with the toe sheath ;D
Along your earlier rant on NRA and finding Bianchi cup rules, where do you find specs or full size requirements for the criters (note that I can't spell sillowet and dictionaries are only for good spellers ;) )

It's "silhouette" and you spelled "critters" incorrectly as well.....
Geez.... ;D

Just following after my mentor the haz ;)

I dropped a large crate on my big toe and while it's all healed, the toe nail will be black for the next year. So best you didn't see it "unsheathed".

I have paper patterns (with squares so you can redraw them to any scale) that I got when I joined IHMSA, back in the dark ages before public had access to the Internet. I took those patterns and drew out my own set of critters on 1/2" plywood. Those are my masters. I have Big Bore, Field Pistol and .22 sizes.
Now a-days IHMSA has them in Autocad and JPEG formats along with finished sizes. To do the large ones you might have to go to a Kinkos (or similar store) and use their large format printer. I doubt many younger people would know how to scale a pattern anymore.

WHILE YOU'RE at the IHMSA site, check out their match schedule.
http://ihmsa.org/Schedule/Schedule.htm (http://ihmsa.org/Schedule/Schedule.htm)
Try to find same for NRA Action Pistol.......doesn't exist.
ALSO: THE PLACE to go for AP information is NOT the NRA, but Brian Enos's forum. That's where the NRA Action Pistol coordinator/manager hangs out and where he posts all information BEFORE it ever shows up on the NRA web site!

Good stuff there. Hints, tips, information, latest news and even some match schedules. [Thanks Brian]

Here you go, for you young whipper-snappers, this is how patterns were distributed back in the good-ol-days.
IHMSA printed them on 8-1/2"x11" paper. Chickens at 1/2 scale, pigs and turkeys at 3/8 scale and rams at 1/4 scale. It was up to you to draw them out to full size.
