Anyone load .45 auto rim?  If so, what is your favorite load?

This should be interesting.
Will they lean toward ACP loads, or .45 LC loads ?

They should lean toward the ACP since it's the same case but for the rim.

Yes but ARis used in revolver and if you're loading for a particularly strong model you could load up to the ability of the case.

Or you could load some very light target loads.

Out of curiosity why not just use moon clips (Down. Down, Haz.  This is a legit use of the term) with .45ACP cases?

Like I said, you're only limited on the low end to what will push the bullet all they way out the barrel and on the high end by the gun and the case's ability.   NOT THAT I"M RECOMMENDING YOU LOAD ANYTHING BEYOND APPROVED SAAMI PRESSURES.

I absolutely abhor moon clips.  I have some of the rimz clips, but I haven't been able to try them to date.

Why ?
They seem to act like speed loaders with out the little knob to fumble with.

Well, Rimz (I have some) aren't to be used as a measure of what steel moon clips are like.   They're fine for playing around but being plastic aren't quite like the real thing.

Once I got my 625, the BMT mooner/demooer and some S&W and C&S clips, man they're the cat's meow.   I've gotten my reloads down below 4 seconds.  Sometime close to 3 on a good day.   I don't come close to that on other guns with speed loaders.

The real problem with full moon clips, besides having to dump unshot rounds?   You shoot too much.  I can go through 100 rounds in minutes, because they're so easy to load.

But, I understand.  Everyone has different likes and dis-likes.   I feel that way about lasers, while others think they're the end-all  be-all.

It seems that, regardless of brand, the moon clips are always getting bent.  Also, after looking at all the tools (de-mooner, re-mooner, etc...) I've accumulated to make using the moon clips more user friendly I would just rather use the auto rim brass.

Yep, there is the downside of trying not to bend them.   I've changed from baggies to coffee cans for my .45 moon clip held ammo.

I'm so glad someone pointed me to the BMT tool.  Since I've bought into the moon clip cool-aid,  BMT, while expensive, is the slickest moon clip tool around.

I appreciate the link, but it's just another too to buy to use the moon clips.

Does anyone have any load data for .45 auto rim using Unique?

Try the Lyman 49th reloading manual starting on page 383, the Speer 14th manual starting on page 957 or the Sierra 5th edition starting on page 987.

So evidently there may not be anyone here who has actual reloading experience with the .45AR, but to keep your thread active, and if you don't mind the slight drift:

So I read up on the 45AR.   Early revolvers experienced some gas cutting so the official SAAMI specs call for 15,000PSI.  While the auto is 21,000.    That problem is pretty much in the past and no one seems concerned, so some of the reloading manuals just show reloading data for 21,0000PSI the same as 45ACP loads.

That said, the other differences are:

I reloaded for the AR years ago and things have changes a lot so that I did not want to post old info.  One thing I will say is that I loaded 265 gr. LSW with a roll crimp for a S&W 25 and they took down pins with gusto.

FWIW
