That's gorgeous.  Where is it from and if you don't mind me asking, how much does something like that cost?

Made by a kid (15 years old I shit you not) in Australia named Tyler Atkinson cost me 200.00
The young fella is talented for sure.
Check out his facebook page if he keeps going I expect he will be the next Gil Hibben

What can you tell us about the quality of the work?  Was it sharp out of the box?

Did you actually give him a sketch of what you wanted or pick one that he made before?

Thanks

Will tell you when I receive it, that's the photo that I got sent.
From all accounts and other peoples testimony the blades are sharp when sent and it includes scabbard
The knife is made from ATS-34 bar stock.
I picked a knife he had made before and then spoke to him about what changes I wanted made, the original one is smaller than the one I ordered this one is around 8" over all length with the blade 4".

A magnificent, elegant and unique gift.  Your grandson will be awed.  Very good, Grandpa, very good.

I was given my first knife when I was in the 5th grade, 11 years old, a Boker folder, by a neighbor man.  Mr. (Ken) Pennington.

When he gave it to me, he said  "A man always goes armed.  If you accept this gift you also must accept the responsibility to use it wisely and take care of it."

That was 55 years ago and it is one of the memorable moments in my life.

It was not near as beautiful as your grandson's knife, but it meant much to me.

I carried it until it went missing from my locker when I was 20 and in the Army.

Good job.

Nice knife..... but even better, the reason for having it made.

I still have my first knife, given to me by my grandfather when I was six. It is quite possibly the smallest folding knife I've seen, but it seemed giant at the time.
I still have it.
It, along with his gold pocket watch that he gave me before he died, ranks among my most prized worldly possessions.

He makes some great looking knives. One reminded me of myself when I saw the size of the belly.  :-[

You can't tell when the new member is reading the archive .
Last post was 2013, then some new member bumped it in May 2020.  ;D ;D ;D

I've seen people on another forum ask someone a question and the person they're asking hasn't signed in for 10, 12, 15 years, maybe longer. It really sucked when I informed someone the person they were asking had passed away. He would have known the answer too.

When old necro threads are resurrected I like to refer to it as Night of the Living Thread. The dead are brought back to life. :)

All 40,000 mine got deleted when I quit the forum.
Sometimes the Zombie threads are like visits from old friends Like Gunman1911, and FQ.   ;D

Yeah, it's funny seeing Sledge and the Quaker and the other long-gone posters' names come up. But a lot of old posts are worth re-reading if you have the time. 40,000? WTH Tom, were you living here? I guess someone needs to keep things in order in the corner, you may as well man the post. ;)
