Title: 3/17/14: I caught up with reality...
Post by: bigfatguy on March 17, 2014, 04:49:39 PM
I started at the oldest Downrange Radio that was available, and listened through bad election after bad election, through small wins and big losses, through the deaths of beloved friends and two small animals...

Now... What the heck am I going to listen to at work? :-)

Many podcasters out there: Tom Gresham's Gun Talk show is available on podcasts (usually by Sunday evening), The Gundudes, Armed American Radio, Gunfighter Cast, Modern Self Protection, HandgunWorld, The Gun Nation and if you like shooting competition there is the Power Factor Show.  8)

Been there, done that. I used to run a Vegas review board till I was caught in the Righthaven lawsuits.

I think I'm done expounding on my own opinions...

After much research, I present the following things that chased me away from almost every other gun related podcast:

1: dull
1.5: listener call in segments
2: a heavily distorted voice, as if the FBI is after the guy
3: speak, chuckle, speak, chuckle, speak, chuckle...
4: a discussion on the imminent threat of moral relativism as presented on hit TV shows...

I guess I'm a Bane man...

1.5: listener call in segments

It's why I can't stand to listen to many talk shows.  I never listen to Rush on Friday because the host runs, "open line Fridays".

Even though I was part of the pioneering efforts to bring live listener comments (email, faxes, interactive video, and of course phone calls) on the air (Tech Producer for TalkBack Live, CNN, 1994) I hate listening to them myself.  (myself included here, I've only been a caller once, on Neil Bortz, I am embarrassed at how it come across.)

Parodying off an old David Steinberg comedy routine (for which he got sued), I have a problem giving people with the IQ of a houseplant, coast-to-coast airtime.

I think cell phones are the death of Talk Radio.  I don't have a land line in my home anymore, so I get the reason everyone calls in to radio shows on cell phones, but from Rush Limbaugh to Ballistic Radio, cell phones SUCK on radio shows.
