Just a stupid thought I had today. My dad and grandad were at the range shooting a pair of m1 carbines. I showed up late with my AR in 9mm. They both kind laughed at me and kept shooting. Would a 30 carbine cambered AR make sense? Better ergonomics and I believe more thump than a 9mm.

Be better off with 10 mm. 30 carbine is fairly over rated, that's why it never caught on like .45 did.
Great little plinker, but for effectiveness, not so much.
It was the carbine people loved, they had to put up with the caliber.

You'd be better off in the AR to bump on up to a .300BLK than a .30 Carbine.

The 5.56 mm came about because the .30 Carbine wasn't powerful enough. It's still better than a 9mm but why put it in a gun that can handle longer more powerful cartridges? It makes as much sense as an AR10 chambered in 5.56 mm.

I built 1 in 9x25 dillion... still tinkering with it, trying to find the right recoil spring to make it work 100%
personally, if I was building another ar and I wanted something other then 556, I think I would go 6.8 spc. granted you will have to reload, but I find that too be a non issue.
