Man, am I way ahead of pop culture.

I've owned spinners my entire adult life.

I have seen these stupid things online and in stores for a while, but yesterday I saw it being used for the first time.  I was having breakfast in a truckstop, and a driver I have listened to, and tolerated for several weeks, was contradicting everyone on anything they said.  When I looked over, he was sitting with one hand up spinning one of these stupid things.  Someone is getting rich off the modern version of the Pet Rock.

Some teachers are using them to help kids with attention problems, as well as certain levels of autism. Our youth pastor's wife works with younger school kids and says these things have actually helped some of her kids with their focusing abilities.

I think for the other 90% of folks it is just another fad.

That was how I read it too.   LOL.
Apparently it's another modern replacement for actual parenting.

I agree that there is a place for these, but you last statement is the most important part of your post.

No.  He was one of those know it all tough guys.  Early 30'show, local driver who tells all the old veteran long haulers how it's done.

My dad told me long ago...

Big girl, big cunt.  Small girl, all cunt.

One of the many things he told me in my teens that he was right on.
