Title: T/C Contender barrels
Post by: tombogan03884 on June 25, 2020, 10:08:27 PM
Any one know of a source for First generation Contender barrels ?
I found a collector place that wanted $800 for a 45/410 barrel.
I got it with a 10 inch 357 mag barrel which is fine since I didn't really get it to shoot.
But...….            ;D

I just accidentally erased everything I typed. G2 barrels fit original Contender frames as well as the new G2 frames. As long as it's not an unmodified Armalloy barrel you can put any barrel on any blued or stainless frame. E. Arthur Brown Company lists their own EABCO Custom Shop and Thompson Center Arms Contender barrels for sale but they're out of all 18 TCA brand.

They'll make you a custom pistol barrel 9"-15" long in .17 HM2, .17 HMR, .17 Hornet, .17 Ackley Hornet, .17 Ackley Bee, .17 Bumble Bee, .17 Hee Bee, .17 Fireball, .17 Mach IV, .17 Rem, .20 Tactical, .204 Ruger, .22 LR Match, .22 Stinger, .22 WMR, 5.7x28mm FN, .22 Hornet, .22 K Hornet, .218 Bee, .218 Mashbrn Bee, .221 Fireball, .222 Rem, .222 Rem Mag, .22 PPC EABCO, .223 Remington, .223 Rem Wylde, 5.56 NATO, .223 Rem Ack Imp, .219 Donaldson Wasp, .224 Valkyrie, .224 BR Mag (BRM), .225 Win, 6mm PPC EABCO, 6mm Donaldson Wasp, 6mm BR Mag (BRM), .25-20 Win, .25-35 Win, .25-35 Win Ack Imp, 6.5mm US (Ult Silh), .264 LBC- AR, 6.5 BRM, 6.8 Rem SPC, 7mm TCU, 7mm US (Ult Silh), 7-30 Waters, 7 BRM, .30-20 Match Silh, .32 H&R Mag, .300/.221 Rem, .300/.221 Rimmed, .300 AAC Blackout, .30 Herrett, .30-30 Win, .30-30 Win Ack Imp, .300 BRM, .30-40 Krag (.30 US), .30-40 Krag Match, .38 Special, .357 Herrett, .357 Mag, .357 Rem Max, .35 Rem, .375 Win, .44 Rem Mag, and .45-70 Govt. What I don't see on the list is .45Colt or .45 Colt/.410.

Earlier this week I found some Contender barrels and stocks and things at Sharp Bros I wanted to start a thread on but didn't get around to yet. They say Find @ Optics Planet (Click Here). I just checked and I can't believe it, they say they have a blued .45 Colt/.410 bore 14" vent rib barrel in stock for regular price $617.99 (Save 36%) = $393.99. Plus they're honored to offer a Military Discount to anyone who is serving or has served in the US Armed Forces, Law Enforcement, or as an Emergency First Responder. The 12" G2 barrel is out of stock. If you want a used stainless steel 14" vent rib barrel let me know. I'm not asking $800 for mine. I haven't shot it since I bought a 10" with regular sights and no rib.

That 45/410 barrel may be one of a kind, and technically illegal.
Because of ATF restrictions T/C always used sights on the pistols to avoid SBS aggravation.
While they were in court over the 45/410, (It went to SCOTUS) They paused production, but a friend of mine wanted one with a bead, so he had it made up.
You can do things like that on 2nd shift   ;D

The barrel was a regular catalog item for several years, in blued and stainless finishes. The vent rib has a front bead like most shotguns, plus a rudimentary U-notch approximately 2 3/8" ahead of the breech. It has the same internal choke tube as the barrel with regular adjustable sights. I read that the original external choke tube barrel pistols were considered an SBS or AOW or something, and that's why they switched from external to internal choke tubes. I have to take the choke tube out to shoot buckshot which I have a stash of, slugs which are kind of pointless, or .45 Colt ammo. The slugs might fit through the choke tube if they didn't obturate. The 000 Buck should fit too if the pellets stayed in a straight line in the center of the bore, but we all know that's not happening. Are you looking for an original barrel to invest in, or a barrel to shoot?

Seeing what back door stuff I can refind  :)

Neither shooter or investment, just looking to see what's available.
