Title: It WAS an unseasonably warm November.
Post by: Big Frank on November 21, 2020, 08:29:48 PM
It was so warm earlier this month that I was sitting here practically naked with the fan blowing on me, thinking about turning on the air conditioner. Normally in November I'm looking at the thermostat trying to decide if I want to turn the heat up another 2 degrees, NOT wondering why it's 75 degrees in the house when the furnace hasn't run in a few days. It was warm enough to be comfortable walking around outside barefoot several days. I was even out there barefoot at midnight one night. It was down in the 60s by then 7 hours after sunset, but the ground still felt warmer than my basement floor. Then it cooled off again and this was the view from my back porch 8:00 Tuesday morning. At 9:00 it looked exactly the same, but it warmed up enough later in the morning for the snow to disappear before the sun moved around to hit it. It got up in the 60s again after that too. If I didn't check the forecast I wouldn't know from day to day if the high would be in the 70s or 30s, or somewhere in between. When I got my mid-October to mid-November utility bill this week and compared it to the last two years I wasn't surprised I used less gas. This year I used 4.1 Mcf* of gas. Last year I used 5.7 and the year before I used 5.8. That's 28%, and 29% less gas this year than for the same time period the two previous years. Has anyone else been enjoying an unseasonably warm November?

*Mcf = Thousand cubic feet.

I have the body of a Greek God! Well, maybe I look more like a manticore, but at least I wasn't completely naked.

That reminds me of something. There was a band, maybe 20 years ago, called Argyle. All the guys in the band wore an argyle sock, but not on their foot. :o BTW, I wasn't wearing socks at all.

We all go through the Greek thing.

Bunny used to look lovingly at me and say, Honey, you look like my Greek god..."

Now she looks at me and says not-so-lovingly, "My god honey, you look like a Greek..."

Just another one of the glories of growing older...

LOL ;D You're okay as long as she never looks at you and says, "Oh, my God! What happened to you?"

We've been having more rainy days than usual but at least, I don't have to shovel it. I haven't even put the plow on my ATV yet, which I normally would have done a month ago.

So far we haven't had enough snow that an intense glare wouldn't melt it. --> >:( Or maybe a little sunshine. 8) We've had more rain too but not much of that either. Most days there isn't any snow at all but when it does fall it's maybe 0.1" and the sun melts it the same day. Winters are nothing like when I was a kid and sometimes snow drifted up to the door knob. Maybe the bottom of the storm door touches a little bit in the winters we've had lately, but you don't have to force your way out to shovel.
