These photos were taken in 2005 by MisterPX of his custom AR-15 after 15,000 rounds of Wolf ammunition. He had lubed it every 1000 rounds but not cleaned it. A thousand rounds later a bolt lug sheared off and two magazines after that a second lug was lost and at that point he decided to terminate the experiment before something disastrous happened.

Those are my pics. I took those around the 15K mark. Broke a bolt lug around 16K, second lug broke after another mag or two, then I terminated my experiment. Interestingly enough, the bolt release broke in that 15-16 range as well.

... barrel was Bushy, BCG was M1S, think upper rec. was as well. Lower was a RRA, do not recall who's LPK.
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

All I can say is wow.  I remember reading an article about an AR that was ran for 24,000 rounds before cleaning.  It was at a training facility and they had a bolt lug that cracked at about the 15,000 round mark.  But they replaced the bolt and continued to 24k.

The dirtiest cheapest ammo would be what $.33/round?  That is $5000 worth of ammo minimum, pretty pricey experiment!  I would rather shoot 6,000 rounds of quality ammo through my 3 brand new ARs or 2 new Sig 556s.  Just a thought, nothing wrong with shooting a lot of rounds, I'm just saying....

First of all i use wolf in my Bushmaster all the time, its seems to prefer the stuff. My Dpms was hit or miss until i changed the hammer spring. Wolf is cheap and dirty, but i always clean my firearms from front to back leaving nothing to chance. I need to practice and i'll continue to use the stuff. One thing is clear i will never go that long with out cleaning. Good thing no one was hurt.

Please include a warning when posting such graphic images. I've been having nightmares of these.  ;D

Must say I have never seen an AR that filthy. Impressed that it still worked. I tend to stay clear from Wolf ammo though I had an SKS that loved it.
