Elevated military rail activity???
« on: January 29, 2012, 12:36:36 PM »
I recently have seen a number of Youtube postings of massive shipments of military equipment around the US.  The thing that bothers me is that the majority of this looks new and/or at the least is is all painted green camo or with an urban type camo.  Has anyone seen anything that pertains to this?

Maybe all the equip. being shipped out of Iraq, got a tune-up and a paint job, and is being sent back to bases/armories/NG areas, etc,..

I wouldn't mind a gov't surplus sale on a armored Hummer... ;D

Yes I thought so too but after Desert Storm I didn't think that everything got painted green again.  I thought that they left it with the desert scheme.  Also I can't see them spending the money on it now to just change the color unless they had reason to think that the next conflict would be fought in a wooded environment. And that is what brings alarm to me.  When you think of the possible wooded areas that there could be conflict around the world you even have to consider right here in the States ie: martial law?!  I am no tin foil head, nor am I naive.  I cannot help but question.

It might have been the stuff that was being stockpiled for replacements.  Could have been a real pile of stuff since even the military might think it wise to be able to resupply without waiting on shipment from the US>

I saw a video of maybe 100 Bradleys on one train. No idea where they came from or where they were going, but I have to wonder.

Check the actual date of the video. I have not seen Green camo on military vehicles, including the ones at Guard and Reserve Armories in 20 years.

It could be units going to NTC for their annual rotation.  I worked on a railhead team when we went in '93 from Ft. Carson.  We took Hummvees, 113s, Bradleys, M1As, Duece and a halfs, 5 tons and Hemmits.  That was one long train and we had several vehicles go via flatbed truck as well.  In fact my dad transported some 113s in '96 or so, with the keys  ;D .  Didn't take them off the truck, very tempted to though, but popped the hatch and started one up just for grins.

The ones in the northern MN and ND armories are mostly green, with some sand thrown in. Not a lot of camo of any color.

They could also be gear being "repositioned" from Europe and Korea since we're pulling out of everywhere.

It seems that most of these extremely long trains are headed to California.  There is another video of some kid filming some military trucks that are stopped in a parking lot that are headed towards California and then someone else acts pissed that he is filming.  And all of these videos are very recent, like as of this month.  It just all seems fishy.  If you go to youtube and type something like "military equipment transported" or "military equipment on train" etc...  you get the idea.  There seems to be an influx of like videos from many different sources.  It seems that the same train shipment has been video taped in a few different states by different people on its journey.
