Every now and then...you're just in the right place at the right time.
Let me start this off by saying that I was completely enamoured by the new Ruger LCP when it was released at SHOT this year. But, after asking around at the local gun shops...sounded like it might be a while before I was able to lay my hands on one. So, I decided that I would look again next year.
In the mean time...I've been pre-spending my "Stimulus" money. I've been in the market for a summer carry gun. I was looking for something in the price range of $300 or so. I took the P3AT off my list, because I wanted to wait for the LCP. Some of the contenders have been the Bersa .380, Taurus M85, Charter Arms, etc...
Last Friday, I decided that I would go to one of my favorite local gun shops over lunch time to drool on their counter. This particular shop doesn't mind letting me fondle the merchandise. They've even let my stuff guns in my pocket/waistband to see how they fit. Which is why they get most of my business.
Anyway...as I was drooling over the snubby wheel-guns, I glanced over at the small auto section and saw a Ruger LCP in the used gun section (yes, used). I asked if I could see it. I inquired if it was truly a used gun. The guy behind the counter told me that a customer bought it...took it out and shot it...and brought it back the next day. I asked if there was anything wrong with it and was told that the guy bought it as a plinking gun and didn't like the amount of recoil he got from a 9 oz. pocket rocket.
Needless to say, I slapped some cash on the counter and had them put it in layaway. Now I'm just waiting to be "Stimulated". Hopefully, I'll be posting some gun porn in the next couple of weeks.
The gun shop said that they had just put the LCP in the case about an hour before I showed up. So...it really was my lucky day.
