Hello ronrdrcr, I voted pulled but not fired.
The short story is I married young, lived in the "mill house" district of north Charlotte, (not a good section of town), wife and dog woke me up, middle of the night, to noise at the back door, grabbed my .357 Rossi M971, went to the back door, heard someone attempting to pry open the door, dog started really barking, I yelled something to the effect of, you better stop, the cops are on the way,(wife called 911), than the window by the back door had a face in it looking at me, I drew down and yelled again, and he went away down the driveway.
Cops came to the house, told me they picked up "a person of interest" walking nearby, gave a description, and they filed a report.
Police never asked about my firearm, or anything else, especially after seeing the damage to the door jam.
We moved a month later. Thats it. Adrenaline, fear, anger all that was going on and I remember having tunnel vision on the back of the house, had the door flung open, I would have fired.
Interesting post. I think for that brief second the BG was looking at the barrel, he thankfully moved on.
Stay safe. Good luck on getting some numbers.
