New Colt 6960-CCU
« on: October 19, 2016, 12:23:23 PM »
OK - I'll start with the bad pun first.
I was just about to pull the trigger (There. It's over) on either a

Bravo Company RECCE-16-KMR-A

Or Daniel Defense DDM4V11

And then I read today that Colt is going to start selling at the end of October this the LE6960-CCU (Colt Combat Unit)

Basically moving from carbine to mid-length gas system and adding a Centurion Arms MLOK CMR rail.

Colt brags about (because everyone needs a "insert famous war-fighter name here" associated with their high speed low drag AR-15 lately)
"The carbine was developed with input from Mike Pannone, Daryl Holland and Ken Hackathorn."
(I had to laugh on the release information - a comment was made "Wow so Colt it took you 15 years and three named shooters to add a rail? Cutting edge.)

Anyhow, arriving within my price subjective "new go-to pre-election AR" price point  -
Looking for input no mater how limited it may be on the little information their is.

Thanks.

I'm having a hard time with these ultra long forends that run out to the muzzle. I'm not used to the look. D.D. started all of this with their rifles. Now it seems everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. At least the competition will bring down the price to more acceptable levels. The $1,700.00 + D.D. was charging for them was ridiculous.

Ended up getting the new Daniel Defense DDM4V7 with the updated M-LOK rail - which works out as my AK's are all M-LOK rifles, so I already have bits and pieces to put on the new AR.

Thanks for all your input (yah.. snark)  :P

Congrats on the new gun. It looks like a good one.

Yup all giddy with excitement - shipping receipt today will be at FFL on Friday - side note of no consequence but to me, the ending dollar amount is the same as my favorite unit I served with in the U.S. Army (West) German late 80's to mid 90's

Good luck Karma... must be.

Looks good.

I used to look down my nose at the full length Mannlicher stocks, but, and especially for shorter barreled ARs, I just love full length stocks that protect the barrel.  Of course, they must be free-floats, unlike the Mannlichers.

I first started noticing the long full float fore ends around 1995 at the first North Carolina Tactical match I shot... Jeff Cramblit had a carbon fiber unit on his rifle... the 3 gunners probably started the trend.. it allows you to index like you would wing shoot a shotgun (weak index finger on the side of the fore end as a pointer, not wrapped as if holding a traditional rifle stock)  and really drive the muzzle to the target

I know I made mention above - but here's some unGodly Karma for you....
After all said and done with shipping, transfers, FFL fee etc...

The cost of the rifle ended in 563 which was the unit number I loved the most and served the longest with in the U.S. Army (West) Germany

AND......

I pick the rifle up today 11/11/2016 - Veterans day.

AAAANNNNDDDDDD.....

The date Daniel Defense quality control signed off on it as a full working rifle was 10/02/2016 mine and my wife's 25th anniversary!!!!

Never selling - not with all this good karma attached.

FWIW
10 shot group 100 Yards, seated no  "rest" other than mag on bench for third point of contact - I I called the flyer in upper left.

The 11 O'clock hole just outside the center is a group of three

1" by my tape measure w/o flyer 1.52 with flyer.

That'll work.  :D
