I went to my doctor today, 3 weeks after being mauled by the neighbor's dog. I still have hematomas in my arm, and one of them is still the size of an egg after all this time. But I am getting better, not worse, and there's no sign of infection. My temperature was 99.9 which is borderline feverish, especially for someone who runs cold like me, but my arm isn't hot to the touch like it was the first few days until the antibiotics kicked in. Still, my doctor didn't think I needed to have the hematomas drained, and if she did, it would be with a needle guided by ultrasound. Not cut it open and squeeze all the gunk out. I'm not so sure she could suck blood clots out with a needle, no matter how big it is. But, in another month or 2 my arm should be back to normal, and I'll be able to do normal things. My carpal tunnel syndrome is still pretty bad in my right hand. The numbness is bad enough, causing me to drop things and not always realize it. Which is especially bad when you're on the pot and don't know you dropped the paper before you wiped. Three days in a row!

But I also have the sensation of itching that goes clear down into the bones. That really drives me nuts some times. I don't see any bruising when I look in the mirror, but the wounds haven't improved a whole lot. I've always been a slow healer, and since I've been diabetic for a few years, things haven't gotten any better. My next step is to seek legal help.
