Back to the attorney. It is great if you can get one through your former arrangement, but personal injury attorneys will often take cases for a cut of the realized judgement. Do your research to avoid shysters and remember that if they are working on 100% commission, your best interest is also their best interest.

I've been avoiding touching my arm almost the entire a week and half, but just realized I have 2 lumps the size of a ping pong balls/golf balls, and another one the size of a duck or goose egg! At least it feels bigger than a chicken egg, and when I grab 2 sides of it, it looks bigger than one. I guess 1 fang didn't make the muscles "explode" or whatever causes the lumps to get so big. They seem to be seriously large hematomas, and I plan on seeing my doctor about it since sitting around waiting isn't healing my arm fast enough. Maybe she'll cut my arm open and squeeze out a bunch of "grape jelly". That would make a nice pic to show to a jury.

I went to the after hours clinic right away, but haven't seen my doctor for it yet. I have to call for an appointment Monday.

Get the wound well documented. ASAP. You very well might need that documentation in the future.

Yeah.  What Jim said.

Arnica is an old time ingredient used to relieve pain from bruises and painful muscles.  It's making something of a comeback these days because it actually works to relieve pain.  It's toxic if you take it internally (as are many medical ingredients) but a welcomed relief agent when applied externally.  And yes, it does speed bruise healing and relieve muscle pain.

Crusader Rabbit

I remember John Wayne mentioning it in a scene during McLintock! after a fight.
He mentioned tincture of arnica for their black eyes.
My granddaughter bruises easily and it helped her with a big bruise on her knee after she fell. I use it for muscle strain and soreness on my bad leg and sometimes my knee and it makes a very noticeable difference. So far I've not had any side effects, but your mileage may vary depending on skin type.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

I went to my doctor today, 3 weeks after being mauled by the neighbor's dog. I still have hematomas in my arm, and one of them is still the size of an egg after all this time. But I am getting better, not worse, and there's no sign of infection. My temperature was 99.9 which is borderline feverish, especially for someone who runs cold like me, but my arm isn't hot to the touch like it was the first few days until the antibiotics kicked in. Still, my doctor didn't think I needed to have the hematomas drained, and if she did, it would be with a needle guided by ultrasound. Not cut it open and squeeze all the gunk out. I'm not so sure she could suck blood clots out with a needle, no matter how big it is. But, in another month or 2 my arm should be back to normal, and I'll be able to do normal things. My carpal tunnel syndrome is still pretty bad in my right hand. The numbness is bad enough, causing me to drop things and not always realize it. Which is especially bad when you're on the pot and don't know you dropped the paper before you wiped. Three days in a row! :o  But I also have the sensation of itching that goes clear down into the bones. That really drives me nuts some times. I don't see any bruising when I look in the mirror, but the wounds haven't improved a whole lot. I've always been a slow healer, and since I've been diabetic for a few years, things haven't gotten any better. My next step is to seek legal help.

This brings to mind the question of the season: What is the asset level of this neighbor? I'm not for frivolous lawsuits, but you need no less than repayment for every one of your medical bills for this attack and for the previous as well.  Hopefully he has homeowner's insurance with a good liability value.
