it might remove some of the salts, but it won't get all of them.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

Back in line with the original topic, my uncle once told me, "Go ahead, shoot the cheaper corrosive stuff in the Garand. Just make sure to finish your day by putting a box or two of the good stuff through it clear out the corrosive."

Being as it was his Garand I was shooting, I didn't have an issue with that advice.

I've always meant to ask here if it was good advice, or wishful thinking.

Wishful thinking.
And if TAB and I BOTH say basically the same thing it HAS to be true  ;D

Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.
