Thanks Peg. Someone has to be. In my family it looks like I'm it.

I just ate a bunch of Jack Link's Original Beef Sticks. They're better than Slim Jims, which I always thought had a texture like chewed up paper (think spit wads). My stomach feels even emptier than it did before I ate them. It's time for something else soon.

The only Slim Jim sticks I've found that are good are the grass-fed ones. They are three shorter sticks in a pack and are not as greasy as normal beef sticks.

I'll have to try those some day. There's deli near where I used to work that has a box full of unwrapped smoked hunter's sausage sticks by the counter. The regular flavor was good IIRC but the hot sausages were really good. There are several gas stations/jerky outlets on I-75 farther north of here. I sometimes stop to get some when I go camping and riding my ATV. They have some good sausages, and thick moist jerky that needs to be refrigerated, in several flavors. Mmm. I have to go up north and do some riding. I've had their jerky for breakfast on my way up several times. My friends help me finish whatever's left of a 1 pound bag or two 1/2 bags.

Four years ago we had a whole deer processed into jerky for $70. It was much better than store-bought jerky.

Right now I'm snacking on some locally fried pork skins.

Venison jerky is great.

I've only had mass produced pork rinds from stores and vending machines. They normally have plain, barbecue, and hot. I like barbecue the best but think I'm due for a bag of hot ones. They also sell bags of cracklins that are smaller and hard.

Bread and "butter". I had a coupon for a loaf of breakfast bread. Michigan Blueberry Lemon Streusel sounds good, but I bought the Sugarhouse Maple Streusel instead. I toasted some and slathered it with margarine last night. It was really good and I'll be toasting some more in a few minutes. There are only 11 slices in a one pound loaf. The only way to divide it evenly without fractions is one slice apiece for 11 people or 11 slices for one person. It's a good thing I don't have to share. I'm going to buy the blueberry lemon too, even without a coupon. The 53% I saved on my bill last night will more than cover the $2.69 it costs.

Man cannot live by bread alone. So I had 2 all beef hot dogs made with brisket. That should hold me for awhile.

Homemade Venison Stroganoff with bowtie macaroni.

I only had homemade venison Stroganoff once in my life, but I remember it being the best venison I ever had.

I took my mom to Texas Roadhouse again today. I had 2 pork chops. She had a steak and ate like an animal. The waitress may as well have tossed it on the floor for her. She's in her 90s, so it's too late to teach her any table manners.

We didn't go Monday because she couldn't hear the phone when I kept calling all day to see if she wanted to go. Same thing Tuesday, so I went over to see if she was still among the living. She was sleeping on the couch, covered up with a blanket because it was only 88 degrees in the house. I woke her up and took her to the store, eventually. One of her hearing aids was wrapped in toilet paper in her coin purse. I still haven't found the other one. She hasn't heard much I've said in 2 days. Or 2 years for that matter.

Half of her foreign coins were missing from where I put them, but the sign saying, "FOREIGN MONEY. DO NOT SPEND." was still there. The other half was in a Ziploc bag with her other change. 1,000 pesos is an American coin, right? ::) I spent a good hour sorting it all out again. I found a 1952 George W. Carver-Booker T. Washington half dollar in it. I've never seen anything like it. The highest price paid at auction for one was $17,250. Hers isn't that good but still has over $5 worth of silver in it. It's good thing I picked it out of the bag. The rest of her American change went in a Coinstar machine and she had more than enough change to pay for her groceries, again. She had over $80 worth one time and we have to keep taking more change in.

When I went to pick her up today she was sleeping on the couch again, with the door not just unlocked, but wide open. Anyone could walk right in and take whatever they wanted. I told her she didn't need a coat today, but she filled her pants pockets with peanuts at the restaurant. When they were full, she started filling up her purse. It was enough peanuts to fill a medium size mixing bowl. No telling where she'll put the bowl.

My breakfast today was a gyro. They're cheaper if you buy 3 at a time and I have 2 left. Yesterday's breakfast was Thai style green curry chicken.

Texas Roadapple pork chops aren’t bad!

I like their green beans with garlic and seasoning too!  Their rolls with honey butter are addictive!
