MantisX Trigger Training
« on: May 04, 2020, 10:16:54 AM »
Just so happened, before all this Wuhan Virus fuss got going, I was shown a MantisX trigger tool.

Wow, just stepped dry fire up to a whole 'nother level.   After about 1,000 rounds I finally got to the range (The outdoor range.  The fresh air and sunshine range.) and I could tell I was at a higher level in shooting plates.  Not just with the G17, but with my 1911 and my revolver as well.

Here's an example of a target I did earlier on, then the MantisX analysis of what I was doing with the trigger and hold.

Cool technology. That's like having a shooting coach tied to the gun.
I looked them up and it's not a bad cost either (On Amazon....may be cheaper elsewhere, that's just the first place that popped up on a search).
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

It was NRA Instructor Coach who showed our class this.  Since he worked for the store, 3 of us put in orders and got a 20% discount.

MARSHALL:  Michael  got one recently.  So did Kevin.  Might be  a review over on AmmoMan.

BTB, it has a Bullseye mode with a longer trigger dwell time recording.

If you're serious Olympic shooter then this is just a toy.  There are other makes geared for Olympic and they cost about 10x the MantisX.

Just got one myself. Haven't hooked it up yet but will this weekend.
The time for action is upon us and the enemy is at our gates. Let us not allow them one more inch of advancement but instead throw them through the gates of Hell.

That's fine if you have a smart phone.
I don't.
My Kindle doesn't handle external add ons, or whatever they are called.
I've been seeing ads for a bore scope that hooks to your smart phone as well.
I think it's the same one they were advertising for ear wax as well   ;D

Tom you get somebody's used Smart Phone and just not connect it to a wireless service.  Only use it with WiFi and to do APPs like MantisX.

My only disappointment is my revolvers and my 1911 don't have rails.    I can certainly find or build a clamp on device for the revolvers,  I think my Sig P250 (DAO) is an okay substitute for revolver training.  But I don't think I'm willing to buy a new 1911 just to get a rail.

On a positive note, even though most of my time has been spent with MantisX on my G17, I've notice a marked improvement in my revolver shooting.  Concentrating on straight-back trigger press has been the result.
