Unless things have changed, it's 'supposedly' temporary..... Not the first time Colt's has shirked the public market for the gubmint contract route because they lack the wherewithal to do both.

Got a Colt upper on a Bushmaster lower.  Not planning on selling.  Not that thrilled with Colt.

They said they're losing money...purely a business decision.

The thing is that this isn't your daddy's Colt anymore.  They lost one military contract,and they could not recover from it.  The way I see it is that their marketing department is no longer able to sell their mediocre products.

I have been working in the Aerospace/ITAR world for the last couple of months as a Manufacturing Engineer and the amount of documented process/associated costs is enough to keep Colt's price-point significantly higher than its competitors.  My employer is trying to transition back to being a Job Shop from a dedicated Aerospace Machine Shop and I am trying to encourage a dual path through the shop, 1 for AS and 1 for Joe Schmoe.  Too much "Process" to be competitive if we don't.
