Hi All
New member here from Northern Ireland who has just ordered
a new RUGER SR9 but I have a waiting time of 3 months to one

 bad which ever the case.
 Thanks Ken.

I have examined a grand total of two SR9s in the local gunshops. Both had lousy triggers. The safety lever is too small and is difficult to engage. The SR9 is probably going thru some first model year growing pains. Check out the threads on rugerforum.com. Ergonomincs are good. Me personally, I'll stick with Glock.

My questions are, is it as good as a KEL-TEC , is it a KEL-TEC clone and why would you pay more for it than a KEL-TEC given the great customer service and overall reputation they have?

By the way RUGERSR9 I thought you couldn't have guns in NI. Aren't you stuck with English gun laws?

Hi all
Thanks for your answers
tombogan03884  All hand guns were banned in England but that
did not include NI and as long as we have a good reason for having
a pistol or revolver then we can have anything you lucky guys can
have over there.
I am still looking forward to receiving my RUGERSR9.
Thanks Ken.

I got to handle one extensively yesterday (didn't fire it though). The action seems quite rough, bad trigger, good ergonomics. I found releasing the slide from the locked position took the other hand to make it work. (small hands) I went specifically looking for the SR9 and walked out with a new Springfield XD9. Better ergonomics.

And Ken, that's just my opinion on the SR9. Don't let mine or anyone elses change yours. I'm sure you'll love the gun. I don't know the availability of sidearms in NI, i.e whether or not you can go down to the local gun store and handle them all or not. That would certainly help you find the one your looking for. There are thousands to choose from and they all have their little pros and cons. I just thought the XD9 was better for me. I know when I was stationed in England back in the day gunshops seemed nonexistant. Lucky for you NI still believes in the individual rights of its citizens.

Cheers,
J.C.
