not really a new acquisition but rather new application...new glasses after cataract surgery... WOW being able to see is a really cool phenomenon... local Steel Challenge club puts on a practice match every Friday... $2 entry to cover a little paint...you can run each of 3 stages twice...I picked up a Glock G44 (.22lr) a couple of years ago, but shot it mainly at the indoor range where I could not draw from a holster...picked up a couple of 18 round ProMags (PIA to retract the follower to load, but I fooled it and drilled a 5/16 hole through it and slip a punch through to retract the follower)... stuck it in a Blade Tec kydex holster and shot the SC format from a holster with low ready draw...
wanted to give me an option for a rimfire rifle irons division, but didn't have a .22 with a front sight.. I have a back up CMMG dedicated 16" upper AR... but my new vision did not like to focus on a flip up front sight on the hand guard rail... wanted a little more distance... the CMMG barrel does not have a front sight tower, but I had a spare laying in the parts bin... my cousin has a good small milling machine, so we tapped the existing hole, and drilled and tapped the bayonet lug for 8/32 hex set screw ... indexed the front sight to the center of the receiver and stuck on a carry handle rear sight... gun is much heavier than the plastic SW 15-22s but it is what I am used to ... shot well
