.45 Colt to .22lr Conversion Kit?
« on: October 16, 2009, 12:13:02 AM »
Any of you guys ever try one of these .45 colt-to-.22lr conversion kits?

Doesn't look like it would work well as far as accuracy, but the reviews seem good. It says the inserts are rifled so it would be about like a NAA length barrel.

The reviews on their website seem good..... you should also try to see if cabellas and midway sell it and see what those reviews say.

For the price, if it works OK, it would let a lot of folks knock the cobwebs of those .45 Colts that they can't find ammo for.

I need to see if they make them for .44's.

Saw a guy use these in a .22 side match last year, He couldn't hit a 4 inch plate at 10 yards with it.

Thanks for that info, Majer..........that was my worry in the OP.....I guess if you were just plinking it would be OK, just not good for high accuracy stuff.

That is what I was wondering.  It is only a bushing, and there is no rifling.  I view it as a 1.25" smooth bore.  However, if it goes bang and that's all you care about  ::)

I think one of the reviews says the adapter itself is rifled.....but that can't be very much.....I'm figuring about like a NAA mini .22.
I imagine there's a good bit of tumbling.

I know they USED to make blocks for converting say, a 30-06 into a .308, but they are the same actual bullet diameter.
I don't see any kind of real predictability in this.

I always though a couple of those in a titanium judge would make a great woods rambling gun.

Except for the accuracy bit.
