DRR 237
« on: November 02, 2011, 11:47:27 AM »
Just got done listening to DRR 237 and wanted to throw something out for consideration.  MB mentioned during the traffic stop portion "...I am carrying a gun/weapon...".  I agree with the idea that it is best to notify the LEO but might it have been better to say something like "I am carrying" leaving out the gun/weapon statement, especially if there is a second LEO approaching along the passenger side and zeros in on the "gun/weapon" thing and nothing else and escalates things accidently?

That goes back to something MB or someone else said about LEO training, yelling out "GUN!" as they draw and engage.  I'm not sure I'd want to give the command to engage if I'm the target.
