#271: Safepacker on a MTB
« on: June 27, 2012, 11:03:06 AM »
On this week's show, Michael mentioned attaching a Safepacker to a waist pack, instead of the bars, while riding a bike.  For the last couple years, I've used a chest holster, specifically this one from Alaska Sportsman Products and it's worked pretty well for me.  Dan made me a custom "compact" model to fit my 3" Model 60 J-frame.  Strapped snug to my chest, it stays put on bumpy descents, and generally stays out of the way of my Camelback and while maneuvering around singletrack.

Unfortunately as I've previously mentioned in this thread, the California Open Carry ban earlier this year also gave the San Bernardino National Forest an excuse to ban open carry everywhere in their jurisdiction, so this setup no longer works for me.

That's a pretty cool set-up! I might have to get me one...
