I'm working my way through the podcast archives. In #327 you mention that you had no desire to see the Lone Ranger movie because you were tired of deconstruction Westerns.
I couldn't agree more. Because let's face it, the debunking westerns are no more true than the classics. When i hear an actor or writer talk about the urgent "need" to deconstruct the myth of the western, i also think of Louis L'Amour's dedication to "Bendigo Shafter":
"To the hard-shelled men who built with nerve and hand that which the soft-bellied latecomers call the 'western myth'. "
