Yes but it's not going to rot for a while.  This way you can hang it and let the RTV solidify without waiting on RTV or having to hold the box in place.  A couple of ice cream sticks ought to work.  Since your using it anyway, coat them up with RTV.  I bet they won't rot in Bill's lifetime.  It only has to last one day longer than you own it....

Which reminds me of a tank battery I built out of Pecos.  The guys had put 5' of fill down to level the thing and had done nothing to compact it other than driving a dozer over it.  And I had to start the facility that week.  The cotton picking thing lasted while we owned it with no problems (a little tank lean) and three days after the sale was finalized a couple of lines pulled loose from the tanks.  Made a heck of a mess inside the containment.
