What's a girl to do?
« on: December 16, 2007, 12:39:45 PM »
HELP!  I am in need of advice.

I am trying to figure out a unique way to present a special carry pistol as a X-mas present.   I want to avoid the traditional "here's a gun case and open it" M.O.  Basically, it'll be a moment he'll never forget.

...any suggestions ??!!!!!   8)

Thx guys!

Other then that the only thing I can really come up with is buy a toy gun thats very simlar to the one you bought and replace the toy with the real thing.

Do we get to see it after you've given it to him?? Gun Porn you know.

Here's a ruse I used once that may at least give you and idea. Our club president was stepping down and the club wanted to give him a gun on his departure for the great job he had done. He was very opposed to the idea. At that time I was the FFL holder for the club, I knew at least one pistol he wanted. The club purchased it, and I engraved it with his name and inlaid one of our club tie/hat pins into the grip on the same side as the engraving. That weekend the club had a trade day, sort of like a small gunshow at our clubhouse and I knew He would be there. I got one the guys to put this pistol on his table for sale, with the engraving not showing. When he showed up, I said man Wally's got a cool gun for sale you got to see, and it's priced right. He went in and talked to Wally, picked up the gun and started looking at it like it was a potential purchase, then he read the engraving and just dropped his jaw, looked over his shoulder and " alright you guys, who is responsible for this? " He knew He could not give it back, since it had his name scratched in it.

This may not work for you, but may give you an idea. Maybe take him to the range and have a friend show up with the new unit, and say look what I got under the tree, let him fondle it and ooh and ahh over it before letting him know it's actually his, be sure to bring plenty of ammo.

Buy him a new pair of shoes or boots, then slide the pistol inside one of them. When he opens them up make him try them on.

BTW Squib, I'm jealous!  :(  Last I'd heard you were looking for a cowboy.

Honest, congrats and I hope all goes well for the two of you.  :-*

Were you planning on a "personal" presentation (go with the TAB) or is this going to be in front of family/friends?

OMG, Squibby, you are a very brave soul posting that question on this site. Thankfully, TAB lived up to the occasion.

Here's my idea, blatantly stolen from a trick shooter in the 50's:

Take the case his gun comes in, empty it (very important!), and shoot his name into it with the gun. Then hand it to him in the case and tell him it works fine.
"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do this to others and I require the same from them"
