I belong to a Gun club in Dallas Tx that's roots go back to 1929. For several years I was in charge of the clubs Federal Firearms license, we did business with a lot of vendors, including Navy Arms. One day we get a call from them asking if we knew anything about a Winchester model 75 22lr target rifle they had received with our name engraved on it? They had purchased it from a gun club in Britain during that time that Britain had once again tightened their firearms restrictions and people were wholesale deposing their guns before they had to turn them in. We began asking some of the older members of our club about it, and one did remember our club donated a rifle like that during the lend/lease act in 1941 to Britain for military training! Now, some 50 odd years later it came back across the big pond. Navy Arms liked the story so much they gave it back to us, we attempted to donate it to the NRA museum, but they would only accept it with the terms, They could do anything they wanted with it, including outright sale. The rifle was in pretty good condition, but the rifling was non existent.
