I am well aware of the writings of the men that helped form and forge this nation and none of them joined the NRA. (I know I know it wasn't around back then) but it also wasn't necessary.  Every family was expected to have guns because they hunted their own food.  Look, I get why they are around, I am glad that they are.  I know that they do a lot of good stuff.  But I have a club, I don't pay dues, I don't have someone representing me (or misrepresenting me) to the government and I am none the worse for not joining.  When it becomes mandatory for firearms instructors to join... I will probably break the law.  Now, if someone can show me a real useful reason to join, I may consider it, but even then I doubt it.

I will quit supporting and encouraging membership in the NRA when the anti-gunners quit fighting to take my Rights away!  Until that time I will enlist and support an organization that is able and willing to fight them at their own game.

In other words, when good arguments with supporting evidence are thrown out because they are different than what "some guy told me once."

Sorry to hear that...but they are the major voice and force to protect the civil rights of millions of gun owners. I get that....

If I was against gun ownership I wouldn't be an NRA member, but I'm pro-2A so I joined. It takes money to pay lobbyists and lawyers to do in Washington what we don't do there personally. That's where dues and donations go. I think all gun owners should join the NRA if they wish to remain gun owners. No one else fights as hard for our 2A rights as the NRA. If firearms are outlawed the's no need for firearms instructors either, so those of you who make a living at it can consider NRA membership as helping with your job security. If you won't join for the sake of all gun owners, at least do it for yourself.

In Washington numbers talk and the rest is bullsh!t. Don't matter if you give more than dues take the magazines or not, just be a tick mark towards another million VOTERS. I don't always agree with the NRA, they are to willing to "cooperate" and negotiate with the enemies of my civil rights, BUT, Lobby wise they are the biggest dog on the block, nearly all fire arms training in this country owes its origins to the example set 150 ish years ago by the NRA, and they do a bunch of other useful stuff. I thought Seals and Frogs were trained to fight with the weapons at hand ? In the political fight we have coming they are the biggest weapon handy. To quote some one else, You don't have to like, you have to do it. (Sound familiar ?  ;D )

" This isn't my first rodeo with regards to chat boards.  I use them rather frequently so I know the deal.  I have gotten out of line before with people that can't see the forest for the trees.  In other words, when good arguments with supporting evidence are thrown out because they are different than what "some guy told me once." I am not good at taking the high road and resort to telling people to step in front of a bus and help thin out the gene pool.  I don't get offended with personal attacks, just rampant stupidity."

I got kicked off another forum for a post that was well received here  ;D

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

Dear johncasey4, How can I take anything you have to offer here with any truth if your basic thought about the NRA is IF ANYONE CAN SHOW ME A REAL USEFUL REASON TO JOIN. I do give you credit for having enough balls to put it that way. I'm sure the flame throwers here are lit and ready for you. I'm not going to get into the why's and ifs as to the reasons on joining the NRA. Considering you probaby give more out in meal tips in a week than it would cost to get a discounted membership of $25. On the whole picture I'm just a fly on a piece of crap. My only claim to fame is in my head. But if your a firearms instructor as you say and you think as you do about the NRA. Then I wonder how you got through the front door ???

To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison
