I just bought a Rock River Flat top carbine, mid priced AR with a great trigger, I just some some at a Gun Show last weekend for around $900.

Good luck and have fun!

Umm.. yeah most of them are good these days. I have a Bushmaster and it has worked flawlessly. It has the old school A1 sights/fixed carry handlel. For me, I like the fixed carry handle because it is well.., "fixed." I don't have to worry about it getting bumped around etc. But, at the same time the flat-tops do allow you to switch and added whatever kinda of carry handle or scope or sights etc., that you may want or need for your personal situation. These days there are all kinds of accessories and add on (such as lights and lasers) to help make a great weapons system.  I would also recommend Rock River Arms and DPMS. They seem to shoot well too.

If it were my money I would go with an LMT, but you can't go wrong with any of the previous recommendations.
