239 or .45 ?
« on: December 13, 2007, 02:55:00 PM »
I have a sig 239 in 9mm. Great carry gun.. but limited to 8+1.  Though I live in NY, my max is 10.  I am debating once again, to move to the 245 ( dont really like the 220 carry's "horn")  The 245 will give me 6+ 1... so the never ending question.. 9 of 9mm vs 7 of .45.
Any advise???
I guess I am looking for the perfect, thin .45.... (to add to the mix, not sure if I want a SA gun)

Second question.. regardless of which sig.. any comments on the increased size of the grip if I put CT grips on??

thanks..
be safe.....

If you can wait, the Sig 250 looks like it has promise.  Check out the vidio.  Unless you already did then forget what I'm saying.

The greatest chance of you needing to use your weapon is going to be at close range- within 10 yards and probably within 5 yards. Personally I think your best bet is less rounds of .45 because the additional knock-down power will offset those few extra 9 mil rounds. Generally if you're firing at someone who is farther than 10 yards from you you're going to have a tough time explaining that to the law.
If you're worried about the # of rounds, carry a spare mag.

I carry 7+1 in .45 and 10+1 in .40, down from my G-22 of 15+1, If you carry an extra mag its all the same and stats say youll never need more that 3 anyway unless your attacked by a horde of zombies.

I would rather have 8+1 in a Sig 45 (Sig 220 Carry SAO) than the 8+1 in the Sig 239 in 9mm, but I have a soft spot in my heart for 45s.

For a nice size carry gun, I am currently looking at the G36 in 45acp.  Nice size and shoots very well.  I have always been a 1911 fan but since shooting a glock from a friend of mine, I am seriously thinking about adding one to the battery.  Give it a look.
