I tried to register at AR15.com, and could not because of my email address being yahoo.  Why is it some forums will not allow you to register if you have a yahoo or hotmail address?  I have had this address for several years now.

it makes it more difficult to come back if your booted off when one can sign in with an outside type account.  using your actual ISP account is a bit tougher since you have to change the account name each time.
personaly i prefer to not use my ISP account

Nice deal on that Leupold scope, m25!

No big thing on getting tossed off. The truth is that Scoutten was first to put up the money to sponsor the Forum, so that buys him the right to kick my butt around the block there. The specific incident for which I was thrown off was when I announced on the Forum that you could sign up at DOWN RANGE to win the Bruce Gray 1911...boooooiiiinnnnggg!...away I went! The 1911 Forum also threw me off for the same reason...unauthorized giving away of a 1911! The head of another Forum, which shall remain nameless, phoned me up after I posted on the 1911 giveaway and called me a "miserable f&^&head" and a "piece of s^&t." Heck, I thought he was my friend.

Fun with the Internet!

Too many people apparently have too much personal cred invested in their anonymous Internet personas...you can't believe every smiley  :)  face you see, apparently...and there's 'way too many strange and arbitrary rules attached to some Forums. There's also a certain level of hipocrasy involved, because several of the Forums mentioned had actively solicited me to post — their Forum members liked to hear from people whose names they recognized, I was told...sort of an UNPAID celebrity endorsement. In truth, all Forums are commercial ventures. The only thing I really have to complain about, aside from being called a f%^&head by an alleged friend, is that I attempted to contact the moderators of the Forums to formally apologize and to ask if we could clarify what I had done to be "Banned for Life" and how I might go about lifting that ban. No one from either the 1911 Forum or the AR15 Forum responded to any of my requests.

Michael B

michael, i applaud you for trying to reconcile as it takes a real man to step up and say hey i made a mistake and would like to apologize for it. -sounds like their loss to me-

Well Hell~~~ Like,

what am I?    Chopped Liver? ::)
I swear.. ya have to be a real bona fide  "hitch up yer britches, cowgirl up"  type of female to work with these 2 owl hoots !
 ;)  ;D

We aren't at  the machine gun shoot yet. It's coming up in a couple weeks..
of which I 'might' get a chance to actually shoot one of those bad boys and try to blow up a car!
Won't THAT be some kind of kick ass, cat daddy stuff??
Yeessssss!!!!!!!

((Oh yea, I will admit that  Micheal and Marshal put in tons of hours and  actually DO work very hard.
In fact, not to sound like I am bragging too much on ourselves.. We are very proud of what this site is becoming, and
we all 3 work very hard on making DRTV the best it can be.

But the key factors are 'you'.. the members and users of the site.
Without all of your support and memberships, there wouldn't be a reason to have Down Range.
 So ...........................................

****walking away grumbling under my breath*** And I'm the best damned pkg of chopped liver that they will ever find.
I swear having to keep up and  put up with the crazy likes of those 2 could make a sane person
 flip over the edge********* but.................................

i love the femine touch not only does it lighten things up and make it kind of cheery but it puts a  :) on my face too.

I was a member there for one month. I never broke 1 rule or did anything wrong. The all of a sudden my account is disabled. I sent a email to ask why and they said I was a previously banned member signed up under a new name! ??? I tried to explain to them i had no idea who that guy was and had no connection to him and they basically called me a liar. >:( Screw em.

You're welcome here Ghostman.

Mosey on down to the Down Range Cafe and look for the New Members thread where you can give yourself a proper introduction and give us a chance to welcome you the right way!!!

Once again, I probably stand in the minority here. :P But the fact is that I've had good luck with them. They are a bit touchy though. I damn near got banned my first post.Y'all remember my frantic post about whether to buy a DPMS sportical vs an AK when I had about an hour to decide before the sale ended? I put that same thing up there and nearly got kicked off as "commercial" as I mentioned the dealer and price. ??? ::) That aside, I've gotten good advice and one hell of a deal on an eotech ($200) from that board. My only bitch is that they make you have ten posts before you can search the site?????? I just gave them a couple recipies and posted some political and sports related BS to qualify. Its not a family like DRTV, but if you need tech advic on an AR, its hard to beat.

I still go there every other day, for the equipment exchange, ( buying or selling stuff ) I have gotten many great deals, off paper to boot. Also, I don't comment very often, but as a guide, get clicked in to your home town section, the people who are there are your neighbors so to speak, I find more like minded people there and some I know, but then again, be cool with your comments about certain things as these people are closer to you, geographically. I have gotten several great deals on optics, which as we know, quality costs, but I have done well there, and a good optic is a keeper, firearms may come and go, but keep the good glass.
