Fellow named Wayne. He joined the Army, trained hard and went to Iraq. His squad was clearing an area of a city, house by house and they hit set-u, a trap. He was hit three times. Once in the head where he lost the sight of one eye, in the stomach where, looking some intestines and in the leg. He was supposed to die, but has a great attitude and lived instead. He walks slowly with a cane, doesn't think as quickly as some and has balance problems, but when he was finally stabilized in the hospital, his nurse asked him if he had celebrated his "life day". He told her when his birthday was, and she responded that since he should have died, he should be celebrating his "life day". When he got out he bought a new AR-15 customized for his handicaps. He's a great guy.
He told me as an aside that when they got him out of the house and safe and they took out the house, it was found that the people running the ambush were high up lieutenants from Iran and Syria and now Iraq personal. He said that this was never reported by the news agencies. He's sad for the cover-ups, but glad to be alive.
He came for a visit today and we shot his AR and his Desert Eagle (nice weapon) Be sure to say a prayer for a vet. I'm one myself, but no hero like Wayne!!
