Tab....how is it I knew you would say something like that???
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

Okay.  Wait. I get it.  Comes from the Navy battleship and a/c crews doesn't it.

I can join in, being I worked quite a bit on the two largest planes, C-124 and C-5A.

A speed related phrase...... or at least that's where I've associated it all my life...heard many times at the racetrack pits, and uttered it often myself.
If everything else is equal, the engine with more cubic inches is faster.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

I agree, however my 2 liter turbo puts out 248 HP on premium gas!

My 79 Camaro with a small block V8 was pretty piggish at a mere 135 HP...  friggin EPA sucked all the fun outta it...

Things change...

It really only stands true when everything else is close to equal, like a 350 vs 454 but both built the same way and used in the same type vehicle, same rear gears etc, then the larger cid should win the day.

Indeed....times have changed in the horsepower world.
Turbos and superchargers can make the smaller cid perform equal to larger cid engines.

Surprisingly, it handled fairly well too....

People on ATV forums say it too. Generally speaking a 500cc has more power than 400cc, but if the 500 is a 4-stroke and the 400 is a 2-stroke then it's a different story.

The horsepower you can buy from an online source is crazy!  We’d all be dead if we had that in the 60’s and 70’s!

Got a MI buddy with a matching numbers ‘69 Camaro, SS 396/375 with original M22 Rock Crusher, stock rear end and nothing changed since he bought it in ‘73.

He said it ain’t seen a wet road at all but the night I saw it a few years back since ‘78!

You guys do know Shelby tricked a 2.2L Fiesta that would out run his 350 Mustang.  Of course, the Fiesta was a lot lighter car.
