FQ,

I never saw them call Pres. Bush a liar in chambers like last night, but it was done many many times.

This pales in comparison to the historical debates and disagreements that have gone on in our Capital building.  At some point someone needs to drive a stake in the ground, and I believe that Mr. Wilson started that process last night when he called the Pres. and his spin doctors on this.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

Tom I am well aware of the election of 1876, no need to google it. The fact that mob rule and death squads were allowed to roam free in Louisiana and result in a deal with the devil and the imposition of Jim Crow in exchange for a GOP victory seems to have little relevance. What's your point, because it seems like you are making mine.

Eloquent as always Tumble. One question? When are you going to realize that having more, rather than fewer pro-2A people is a good thing? Is there some political master plan that says WHY driving people who don't share all your political views away from the main issue is a good idea? If so, I'd like to see it. Hell, you might even want to copywrite it since it would sure be a new thing in politics. ::)

My point, which I made badly, is that after 8 years of "Bush lied, People died","Buck Fush", "Shrub" Etc. etc. Ad nuasem, your hypocrisy makes me want to puke.
I don't care if the "honorable Gentleman" is the President or the Pope, a lying POS needs to be called on it PUBLICLY, and to his face. I notice that no one says BO ISN'T lying. No one has challenged Mr Wilson on the FACTS.
 There are times when a spade needs to be called a f-cking shovel.

Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.
-William Pitt, British prime-minister (1759-1806)
Some people just normally prefer a yoke.

Something Bryand71 quotes that I entirely agree with:
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." [Samuel Adams]

I especially like the part, "We ask not your counsel or arms."  That is really true.  Some people just normally have that need to worship other individuals without regard to fact and exhibit the tendency to be doubleminded....I can't change that pathology and I certainly will not respect it.  Therefore, that being first, secondly I forsee the remainder of the quote as a logical path of servitude.  With that I will agree, "...depart from us in peace."

"May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen"

That's my favorite part.

Another good one :

St. Crispen's Day Speech
William Shakespeare, 1599

                                            Enter the KING

                  WESTMORELAND. O that we now had here
                      But one ten thousand of those men in England
                      That do no work to-day!

                  KING. What's he that wishes so?
                      My cousin Westmoreland? No, my fair cousin;
                      If we are mark'd to die, we are enow
                      To do our country loss; and if to live,
                      The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
                      God's will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
                      By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
                      Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
                      It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
                      Such outward things dwell not in my desires.
                      But if it be a sin to covet honour,
                      I am the most offending soul alive.
                      No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England.
                      God's peace! I would not lose so great an honour
                      As one man more methinks would share from me
                      For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
                      Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
                      That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
                      Let him depart; his passport shall be made,
                      And crowns for convoy put into his purse;
                      We would not die in that man's company
                      That fears his fellowship to die with us.
                      This day is call'd the feast of Crispian.
                      He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
                      Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam'd,
                      And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
                      He that shall live this day, and see old age,
                      Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
                      And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian.'
                      Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
                      And say 'These wounds I had on Crispian's day.'
                      Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
                      But he'll remember, with advantages,
                      What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
                      Familiar in his mouth as household words-
                      Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter,
                      Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester-
                      Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
                      This story shall the good man teach his son;
                      And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
                      From this day to the ending of the world,
                      But we in it shall be remembered-
                      We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
                      For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
                      Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
                      This day shall gentle his condition;
                      And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
                      Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
                      And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
                      That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.
