Federal 9 MM BPLE Ammo
« on: August 01, 2017, 06:33:10 AM »
The case of Federal BPLE 9 MM arrived yesterday. Beautiful ammo! I think this is about the best self defense 9 MM available. Especially for the price. ($303.00 delivered / $15.15 @ box of 50). I think I'll swing by Harbor Freight this morning, and pick up a couple of new .50 Cal. metal ammo cans for it.

Would shooting that much +P+ ammo have any negative impact on your pistol? I haven't heard anything about long term use myself.

I asked that question to Sig becuz my P6 is near 40 years old with a scandium AL frame.

Their answer was that it was OK in limited use only.  I took that as once I know what feeds well for self defense, don't shoot it much.

I really don't think so. Especially in the all Stainless Steel, full size frame guns like the CZ-75's and the like. In the little Ruger LCP's and other small pocket 9 MM's, I wouldn't use it on a steady basis. But I just ordered a new Glock 17-L. And it's going to be seeing a lot of that stuff. Remember the Europeans have always loaded 9 MM ammo to much higher pressures than the Americans do.

I saw some 9 MM DWM ammo a while back that had a warning saying, "For Use In Submachine Guns Only... Not For Use In Handguns. Not because it was subsonic. But because it was loaded even hotter than their NATO pistol ammo. The Europeans have always liked hot 9 MM ammunition.

Bill, would a full auto need higher pressure to cycle properly?

Just curious..

I'm guessing yes, because the weight of the bolt assembly is greater on a sub gun.
