My chest freezer gets down to zero or below zero but the freezer in the fridge doesn't even come close to freezing whiskey. Southern Comfort may get a little syrupy in there but it's a liqueur. Until 2016 it didn't even have whiskey in it for decades.

Grabbed chili-dogs and apple pies at a drive-thru on the way home from taking supper to my s-i-l.
We took her hamburger steak & onions with mashed taters & gravy and mac-n-cheese.
We'll have some tomorrow for lunch.

Ore-Ida Home-style Simple 'N' Creamy Mashed Potatoes and chicken gravy. These are the only store bought mashed potatoes I really like. There's nothing in them besides potatoes with some skin, heavy cream, butter and salt. I buy them any time I have a digital coupon for them and have 4 more in the freezer.

ETA: When they're partly heated and I take them out of the microwave and stir them they look disgusting. But when they're fully heated and I stir them up again they look good and taste good, to me at least but I'm easy to please.

Pork sirloin stew

I cut a lot of whole loins for the chops for us and others.  Because of this we have a lot of sirloin roasts left over, and this is not a very moist cut of meat.

I deboned a bunch on Saturday morning and set out to make a stew:

3# boneless loin cubed
2 medium yellow onions ( I slice 1/4" thick and quarter)
1 cup carrots cut to size you like
4 cloves garlic
1 bottle beer of choice
2 C chicken stock or broth
1/2 small can of tomato paste
1 T flour

Season meat with salt and pepper to taste in bowl and let sit
Brown meat in a heavy pan (I used a dutch oven) to a crisp brown outside
remove meat and drain all but 2T grease
add onions and carrots, cook till tender, add garlic for last five minutes
Add beer, chicken stock, tomato paste and flour
Stir over low heat until liquid thickens
Add meat back in
Put in oven at 350f for 3 hours

I served it over long grain brown rice.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

Stopped at Golden Corral halfway back from Atlanta yesterday and it was fairly good for 3:30 in the afternoon. Sometimes at that time you can get leftovers from lunch that have dried out and aren't as good as fresh, which was the case a month ago at the same location....but my mother-in-law likes GC better than anywhere else so we always stop there for her.

A Cuban Pannini and a tall glass of Sweet Tea at a local diner.

Store bought pizza with 2 types of pepperoni and 6 cheeses. I shouldn't have bought any pizza from Kroger's deli but they were on sale for $3.99 instead of $8.99. At $5 off I had to try them. I bought 5 of them in 3 different varieties but I'll know better next time.

Chicken Alfredo. After I took it out of the microwave and stirred it up I sprinkled on a generous portion of grated Parmesan cheese. The cheese has kind of soft springy texture to it, not that dried out stuff that looks like sawdust. I have 3 mandarin oranges in front of me that I'm going to eat after I click Post.
