A little history. In 1990 I was a Sgt. on a local dept. The call came over as a disturbance. On scene 2 units arrived to find a BIG guy acting a bit nuts. Suddenly he whipped out a revolver. 8 center hits from 2 deputys did not do the job. Only a 12ga. slug to the headput him down. He was able to get off 3 shots during the incedent. At the time we carried S&W 6909 pistols with Federal 9mm BPLE ammo. 1,300 fps hollow point and a reliable stopper. Come to find out, he was "dusted". But it does illustrate that a hand gunis a marginal stopper. I only carry a pistol because my AR would be too inconvienient!

A graphic video of a recent shooting in Ohio.  It looks like the guy takes two, maybe three rounds, in the torso and he's still a viable threat.  The more I see, the more I'm going to rely on a shotgun or carbine for home and travelling defense.
