That was supposedly done in 1968.
It also shows the racist intent of these laws in that the term "Saturday night special" refers to guns that were used by blacks to shoot each other after getting drunk on Saturday nights.

I say let people build crap guns.   when they blow up or fail to work.  The market will take care of things

They aren't talking about "crap" guns.
They are talking about inexpensive ones like Hi Point's.

Because as we all know a cheap handgun is only useful to criminals not to low income law abiding citizens who can't afford a more expensive gun... ::) ::)

I was looking at the text.  It looks like it is extending the 1968 ban on imports without sporting purpose to transfer of guns that have had interstate or foreign commerce.
