Mossberg 500 VS. 590 A-1 Mil-Spec

Have had a 500 for 20 years now and it is still going strong.

I bought a 500 combo for shooting with the boy scouts about 4 years ago and keep the HD barrel on at home. I love it. The stock fits me much better than an 870 so felt recoil is much tamer. I added a light tube sight to the long barrel for my old eyes and to teach scouts about sight picture (Can you see the red glow? No. close you left eye... OH THAT red light!) Works great!

It does not feel as substantial as my 870 but is half the price and clearly good enough. I score as well as I ever have at trap with it. The shots i miss are due to my wandering focus. Thankfully I have not started to drool yet...

I have a 590A1 on order now. As soon as I pay the remainder it will be on its way. Shot one a good bit and found it much more tolerable with heavy hitting loads vs it's 500 counterparts. The weight helps a good bit.
Still having trouble deciding on a new stock for it. But after watching pincus's video on the Blackhawk Knox gen 2 I think I'm leaning that way.

With the dual slide rails I would recommend a Mossberg 500 over as being better than a Remington .

As a big Remington fan, I'm beginning to come around to that line of thinking. These last 2 Mossbergs have convinced me.
