I never thought of Apple fanboys as more gun friendly  ???

At a recent Combat Focus Shooting Instructor Development course, of the 5 laptops in the room, 4 of them were Macs. I know a number of instructors, gun writers and gunsmiths who are Apple advocates. The one thing we all have in common is that we appreciate efficient equipment that makes our jobs easier.  ;D

Guys, this may be a silly question, but does this app rely on audio commands, visual commands or both? I am wondering how I will hear audio commands with hearing protection on. My iPod speakers are not all that loud to begin with. I am likely missing something here. I did go to iTunes to view the app. There is only one written review and it reveals very little. There are, however, 12 starred evaluations, which are on average 2-1/2 stars. So, some folks, for some reason, are less than excited about this app. Dropping a couple of bucks to find out for myself is no big deal. I would like to believe I will be able to use the app. Any more information?

It uses audio cues. If you have electronic hearing protection, turn up the volume and you'll hear the commands easily. If your muffs aren't electronic, simply put in your iPod earbuds and put on your muffs. If you routinely use earplugs instead of muffs, you won't be able to use the app all that well.

The app works fine. There was a bug in the very first version (a bug I personally never encountered) which was rapidly fixed. I suspect that the low review scores are probably from people who aren't Combat Focus Shooting students who bought the app anyway, and couldn't figure out the purpose.

If you're familiar with CFS, the app is self explanatory and of obvious value.

Good solutions! Hadn't thought of using the ear buds under my hearing protection. Makes sense. Thanks!

I'd love it for Android! I tend to have a hard time getting a training partner to call commands for me.

I've had this App for a while now & it works Great! (Got it right after my 1st CFS course)
I would like an "update" with some more throaty commands. The calls for "up", "left", "right" etc. are very mild...not that they need to be "aggressive", I'd just like them to be.
I enjoy when the crazy little bald guy yells at me!   ;D (Hey Rob! Get on that!) LOL

As for using it in a Dry Fire training, I'd say Rob is 100% correct. (don't)
In my opinion, Dry Fire should be reserved for learning trigger "feel"...namely for new shooters in their acclamation phase with the weapon, or when teaching the concept of trigger reset.
That doesn't mean that this App should be reserved only for the range. I've used it at home with my dummy guns to work on & keep fresh, my "presentation from the holster" skills. We all seem to be willing to shell out time & copious amounts of money when it comes to putting rounds down range, (I'm guilty) but how many of us really devote time to the easy free stuff that we can do at home? This App is a good way to receive random commands (if your settings are right) that keep the "surprise" factor up & allows you to practice non-bullet related fundamentals.  ;)

Hey guys... NoBite, THANKS for considering the App. If you go for it, please post your thoughts.

In addition the early sporadic bug, I think several people buy the App without understanding HOW it is meant to be used... but we are going to be tying an instructional video aspect to the App by the end of the summer that should add HUGE training value to it, especially for "newbies" to our concepts.

Meanwhile...
BIG NEWS: ANDROID Version is being developed now... and I need 3 testers... first emails to rob@swatmag.com asking for a copy will get a T&E Version for free.

AND, we're working on some voice options. I might include "Angry Rob" :-)
