Anyone here made a Crossdraw Avenger?
« on: November 15, 2011, 07:17:37 PM »
Has anyone here made an Avenger style Crossdraw holster? I need a pic to visualize what I need to get done. I have played with some patterns, but still cant quite come up with a winner in this endeavor.

You're awesome.
I will keep trying too. I think it will be an unconventional look, no matter what, unless I really make it ride high.

I haven't tried that one, but now you've got me thinking.

Ok, that looks good.
So basically you extended the trailing slot piece, and then I assume you put the belt slot to the bottom of the body of the holster?
The last pattern I made was getting close to what you did, but I am still fighting with it a little bit. Almost there I think, though.

One thing that helps me line everything up. i draw the belt on my pattern first. Then I build the pattern to the belt line. cross draw with autos is more difficult than revolvers. The grip angle of autos makes leaving enough room for a good firing grip pretty difficult if you use a lot of holster cant.
I did not take any pictures of the back of the holster.
Best of luck.

Yep. I think I was just trying to get too much cant in the thing. I also draw the belt on my patterns, but with the short barrel I am building for (3" 1911), its kind of a booger.....
It might just have to be more vertical than planned.

I'm not a holster designer by any means so I need to ask a question or two...

Haystacker, does the off side pull away any?

This ? is general...if it does, wouldn't the belt loop on the off side be better?

Thanks,

Richard

PS:  Glad I got to see a picture of one because I was having trouble picturing it in my head!

PPS:  I love that color combo!

Ellis...If I am reading your question correctly you are commenting on the side of the holster where the gun slide is located.  He did not show the back of the holster but the overlay (or stiffening) piece that wraps around the holster has what is referred to as a "belt tunnel"....so the holster would not move away from the body.

Haystacker...great looking holster...seems like alot of us like that "Askens" design

Dalton...on a crossdraw you don't want too much of a cant.  When you are in the sitting position (especially when your in an auto) a drastic cant would put the grip frame to low into your leg and would most probably interfere with drawing the gun
