Saw an entertaining movie for a change. Came out of the theater thinking I got a decent return on the ticket price. What could this possibly be, you may ask. The film is titled Stan and Ollie, and is the story of Laurel and Hardy, a comedic couple a few of you oldsters out there may remember.
John C. Riley plays Oliver Hardy (while wearing a fat suit) and someone whose name I did not recognize plays Stanley Laurel and both are superb. The have even managed to mimic the voices and comedic timing to near perfection. And a couple of the dance scenes are just as I remember from Saturday afternoons in my youth.
The film showcases several of the original skits, but then goes behind the scenes to look at the personal aspect of the comedic duo. Let me just say it was not all as it appeared on screen.
Anyway, it's an excellent flick that you wouldn't be embarrassed taking your wife to see.
