65% angry. Can't believe it's such a low number. People just aren't paying attention. This eff-wad wants to destroy the country.
-
Just curious...have they actually told anyone what's really in the bill yet? They keep changing it so much since they told us that they "heard" us and would work on jobs instead. So much for that.

Excited. It extends coverage to 32 million Americans who lack it and bans insurers from denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing medical conditions. This is a tremendous step forward for the nation.

Angry. This legislation will harm the economy while mandating a government takeover of the health care system.

I don't know what to feel. I'm happy that more Americans will be insured, but don't think that anyone should be required to purchase coverage under the threat of costly penalties.

Dear Michael,
Thank you for contacting me with your thoughts on health care reform legislation. I appreciate you taking the time to contact me and would like to take this opportunity to explain my position on this important and complicated issue.
There are far too many people in our country who either do not have insurance or are underinsured, and the cost of insurance is escalating at unacceptable rates. We have to cover more people and get costs under control now.
These are very, very difficult goals to accomplish. For over 75 years, Republicans and Democrats alike have bemoaned the current health care system. It costs too much, covers too few, and often doesn't provide the best results. If we've discovered anything in our pursuit of reform, it is that this is a difficult issue to address - but that is not a reason to avoid the problem. If we are truly committed to addressing these issues, we cannot simply rage against what is wrong; we must do what we can to fix them.
I support this legislation because it is the best available step forward for reform. With health care costs ever increasing, we need action on these tough issues. The option before us is imperfect, but it begins the process in a substantial way.
This bill will cover an estimated 30 million additional Americans and save more than $1 trillion in the long term. These are huge steps forward in the reform process. These two key facts make it imperative that we pass this legislation and move forward now.
The legislation passed in the House on March 21, 2010 is better than the House bill that was passed in November. It does a much better job of getting costs under control. The numbers demonstrate that this legislation will not only help reduce costs in the short term, but also help bend the long term cost curve. The legislation moves forward on rewarding quality of care over quantity. We begin to shift away from the failed fee-for-service model that encourages high levels of utilization without regard to the quality of that care. Instead, it encourages accountable care organizations (ACOs) and many other quality based payment methods, which emphasize overall quality of care over the sheer number of visits, tests, and referrals. We will have to monitor and adjust these policies as we move forward and see how they are implemented, but they will actively work toward controlling costs and improving the quality of health care in this country.
This legislation includes a number of ideas from both sides of the aisle, such as portability, which allows insurance companies to sell insurance over state lines. It also encourages employers to provide incentives for their employees to manage controllable health factors known to lead to long term health issues. These incentives will help create an overall healthier society, and encourage individuals to control their own health care costs.
Americans will be touched directly by the improvement in care. In addition to no longer being denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions, Americans will have access to a greater choice of plans at more affordable rates. The quality of care will also improve as doctors are rewarded for quality rather than quantity of care.
Further, this legislation empowers states to be the drivers of reform - not the federal government. States have the ability to set up the exchanges to help individuals find quality health insurance, and states will be the primary regulators of insurance companies, rather than the federal government.
This bill is not by any means the end of Congress' work to improve health care in this country. The months and years ahead will be filled with the continued work to improve upon these ideas, learn from our mistakes, and work toward a system that is sustainable and provides access to quality health care for all Americans.
Health care is an incredibly difficult issue to address, but I believe that I was elected to make difficult decisions, not to hide from them. I have chosen to support this legislation to give Americans the opportunity to have a better health care system.
Over the last year, I have seen an extraordinary level of engagement from the American people about reform. In fact, in all my years a legislator, I have never seen this level of involvement from my constituents. This is a promising sign for the vitality of our civic culture and I hope I continue to see this level participation as we move forward to address the many difficult issues our country faces.
Thank you again for taking the time to contact me on this important issue. I hope that you will not hesitate to contact me with any future questions, comments, or concerns you may have.
Sincerely,
Adam Smith
Member of Congress

I got this from my so called Rep after the vote! >:( I can't wait to get this guy out of office in November! >:( He's never be aint-gun but he's never be outwardly pro-gun either. I have contacted him in the past and asked him to cosponsor pro gun leg. like the National Reciprocity amendment, and got nothing but a B.S. reply and no positive action on his part other than a similar letter to this one. >:( :-X

Guys, take poll if you want to, but call your Senator today. This whole thing is going to be over with one way or the other by the end of the week. Act now! (Lord, I sound like an NRA "Legislative Alert" ::)). Still, its for a good reason. Do phone your Senate Kritter.

Done already, Kerry won't answer and Scott Brown already made his intentions clear on this issue. One cancels out the other so, for the time being, on certain issues, John Kerry is a moot point in the US Senate. Scott Browns election has done wonders for this state already, there was even a (D) Congressman from the south of Boston who voted NO on the health bill. I can't figure why but I figure don't look a gift horse in the ass!

This will be no different than any other democratic entitlement program ever passed, except it will be larger and far more expensive. The Haves will pay for the Have Nots. Always have, always will. It's what the socialists live for in this country.
Oh, they'll sugar coat it with more B.S. than a Bill Clinton love triangle, but in the end everyone who has health care will now pay far more for it, wait longer to get it, and when it finally comes the quality of it will resemble fresh dog feces. But cheer up. Now all these welfare crack whores with a half dozen bastard, illegitimate kids by six different fathers will be covered on your dime. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, doesn't it?
Trying to listen to a democrat talk about "saving money" is like listening to muslims talk about world peace. A bit difficult to talk about something you know nothing about. Speaking of whores, Pelosi needs to put the crack pipe down. Bill T.

I think it is already done. I saw something on Fox that said the Prez was planning a signing ceremony for tomorrow! I think our only hope now, lies in the courts. ??? :'(

Are you still under impression that they do care about the poll numbers? ???
The only poll they do believe in is the actual election results!
Now lets put this thing aside and examine the facts. I will use my family as an example.
I am in pretty good health for my age, my wife on the other hand has couple of preexisting conditions. I am still without a job, but lucky enough to have COBRA coverage through my previous employer. This coverage is limited for 18 month so, I decided to do a little shopping for the Health Insurance few month ago. I got preferred rate coverage, but my wife got "denied" letter from the same insurer. As long as I maintain continuous coverage at exorbitant COBRA prices or get new coverage through gaining full time employment soon she wouldn't be denied payments for her medical bills. In case my continued coverage lapses for some reason, she will be denied payments of her medical bills due to the preexisting conditions. This is just her, my younger son could be another example.
Now, if you want to know how I feel about the whole thing that happened yesterday, I was relived. Something had to be done about the way we all pay for the medical treatment. Did I like the way the Dem's showed the bill down our throats, hell no! But change is well overdue. There should be some sort of the safety net system to soften the blow, but without turning it into dependency. Unfortunately most of the Gummint run programs are fertile soil for uncontrolled and inefficient bureaucracy.
So, what is the answer to those problems. All of the incumbents D's or R's have to be commended for tackling the Health Reform issue and then voted out of the office this coming November. The rest of them should be out after the next election cycle. They all too comfortable in their offices. Recall option and term limits have to be in place to keep the new once in check, and no lobbying jobs allowed afterward. Their compensation should be tied up to how much money they saved by making the government more efficient and smaller without sacrificing level of service. No political appointees to the key government agencies. Hire the best and the brightest our country has to offer. Use limited term contracts with well defined criteria to keep the top bureaucrats in check, extend the contracts if they are good or boot them out without severance if they are not.
I am still going to vote Republican, but wish we'll have a better choice next election.

Sen Bill Nelson, D-FL, has never wrote me back even after the numerous calls and letters written. He didn't even have a generic staple letter, mailed by his crony staff.
Debbie Wasermann Schultz, Rep D-FL, aka "Pelosi's Lapdog", hasn't responded either.
66.4% Angry.
The only thing the courts "could" rule on is the Constitutionality of mandated coverage, NOT the ENTIRE BILL.

They didn't have a selection for "Pissed to the highest level of pisstivity" so I just put "angry".
Somehow, 'angry' just don't seem to fit right now.

Health care does need to be reformed but not at the cost of 2 trillion $$'s that tax payers don't have! I also think it should have been done piece mill. Not all at once like this. Change something then see if it works, then change something else. If it doesn't work try something different. With the way they did it I think it's going to fail and their not going to know what to change and what to leave alone! :( Some people will see a benefit soon, but we will all suffer later! :'(

No one ever said liberals can understand common sense, simply because they possess very little of it. Insurance of any kind is based on the spreading of risk. It costs more for earthquake insurance in San Fransisco than Hoboken, New Jersey. The risk is simply greater. Dump in a bunch of guaranteed sick people, (i.e. "pre existing conditions") into an already expensive insurance risk pool, and the price per person will go up, NOT DOWN.
So much of this abortion of a health care bill is based on pure ignorance and blind trust with absolutely zero facts to back it up, it is totally pathetic. This whole government, state run health care debacle has already played itself out in Massachusetts with dismal failure, and costs that have risen into the Stratosphere. This will be worse on a national basis simply because Massachusetts by in large is an affluent state. When the federal government finds itself having to FORCE insurance companies to cover every sick, broke, uneducated, unemployed or under employed, minority in the United States, please don't be so foolish to think it will be done cheaper, if in fact it can be done at all. Bill T.

The MA State Treasurer (D) has predicted that this bill will bankrupt the US within 5 years. WITHOUT Federal money, Massachusetts would never be able to handle the additional costs involved in our CURRENT social health system. We've been bleeding money since Romney signed the bill four years ago.

Chicago gangster politics by a Chicago gangster wannabe! Did we expect anything less? I didn't!
You are not alone, I assure you. I was born and raised in and around the city of Chicago. I spent 38 years of my life there watching how the Richard J. Daly Chicago, Democratic "Machine" works and operates.
It is without question the absolute most nauseating, corrupt form of government I have ever had the displeasure to witness. Most people in this country have zero idea just what a bunch of lying, thieving, worthless, sub human POS, "politicians", that city "graduates". Hussein learned well, and came in at the head of his class.
Corruption is a government certified way of life in that stink hole of a socialist city. Property taxes are the highest in the midwest to support all of the graft and socialist give away programs to the minorities. All designed to keep them in power by simply buying votes with socialistic pandering. Otto Kerner, Dan Walker, Rod "Blago" Blagojevich, Roland Burris, Barack Hussein Obama, the list of tramps and thieves is all but endless. All have either served time in prison, or soon will, (Blago). Our socialist leader honed his political skills in this cesspool of common political criminals.
Look for "immigration reform" to be next on his list. By catering to all of these worthless illegals he will be pandering to enough people to help keep the socialist dems in power for many future generations, and in the process turn this country into a third world nation. About the only hope left are the people you see pissed off on your screen each and every night. Killing off these socialist vermin in November is just the start. Like ants, termites and assorted other pests, there are plenty more where they came from, and plenty of stupid A-Holes who cannot think for themselves to pander to. All designed to attain and hold power, nothing more. Anyone who thinks any different is simply ignorant. Bill T.

Hey Bill, Chicago has nothing on Boston, Granted your Governors seem to leave office in handcuffs, but when Micheal Curley was Mayor of Boston they used to hold City Council meetings in his cell.
Curley at least had the charm of just being an old time Irish crook politician, like Billy Bulger.
These current Motherf*&kers are anti American communists.
Also, Myth busters proved that you CAN polish a turd, they also established that predator turds take on a higher shine than the turds of prey animals.

Isn't the sound of brass tumbling wonderful?

I was THIS close to voting for a democrat this fall. Markey had been voting exactly the way I would have (she is a Blue Dog). Until sunday, when she voted FOR this health care bill. It'll be interesting to see what the NRA rates her.

67.5% angry now. 6.3% don't know and 0.9% other. WTH are the last two? Don't those 7.2% pay attention? Oh yeah, Prof Hanson, when he was the student council adviser told us that 10% never get the word and that 30% can be counted on to get it wrong.

Hussein has absolutely no idea what he has started. Not a clue. Bill T.

67.5% angry - 25% approve. There is always a certain percentage of a given population that will embrace enslavement.
