[Updated 10:45] North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD, scrambled two F-16s to intercept the United Flight at approximately 8:45 p.m. ET as the jet was en route to Denver, Colorado, according to a NORAD statement.[Published 10:26] Federal authorities say a disturbance aboard a United Airlines flight from Washington, D.C., to Denver, Colorado, Wednesday night occurred when a passenger apparently tried to set a shoe on fire.
Law enforcement officials met the plane on the ground in Denver and there were no reports of injuries.
"The situation is under control. The flight is on the ground," a federal law enforcement official said.

(Right or wrong) I thought it was a felony to smoke and or disable the smoke detectors on a plane. They probably found out he was Christian. YOu know how Comrade President feels about 'those people.' forgive the sarcasm...just in one of those moods

Probably it sure seams if all he was doing was grabbing a smoke the gov't overreacted...especially since there isn't any Islamic extremists anymore. :D
