This openly gay lesbian with no judicial experience will scoot right thru, just like the Messiah! I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it before now! I've got my supplies ready, gonna head for the hills with ammo and guns in hand!
I weep for my country!

The gay thing doesn't matter, I used to use the term "communist c*@ks%ckers" to indicate the far left, until one time I was in a discussion and realized that the 3 people who seemed to be Patriotic Americans and agreed with me were all Gay.
The 2 socialists were straight. ???
But the "no judicial experience" ? Seems like a deal killer to me.
But we have a (alleged ) President who is trying to learn as he goes, why a SC Justice ? ::)
We're sooo screwed. :-\

Uh, last I looked, Thorpe is in the hills . . . . ;D
Not at all happy with the pick, not in the slightest. Another "Constitution is a living breathing evolving document" type hitting the big time.
Didn't we have a thread here once, about something like - when will you know it's time?
-
Yeah, the gay thing does matter! ;D
It's all something we'd like to experience in our bedrooms, but I don't like that kind of bias in our SCOTUS!
-
Yeah, Path! I am in the hills. But not far ENOUGH in the hills as I'd like to be!

I heard a news story that she was Dean of Harvard when they banned US Military recruiters on campus.
Wether she actually made the decision, it was made by her employers, or forced by a court decision I do not know.

Why do guys fantasize about lesbians? Here's a clue, they don't like men! ;D I don't know enough about her yet to form an opinion, but the lack of judicial experience is nothing new. Chief Justice Rhenquist was never a judge. It is a concern though, as an SC justice does need a different mindset than a politiian or academic.

Yep, it's true Tom! I don't know EXACTLY how much she had to do with that decision, but it's true, just the same.
I weep for my Country! >:(

He may not have been a judge but his entire career was spent in courtrooms,

The President nominated Chaz (Chastity) Bono......we're definately screwed but it doesn't really change the court, for now...
Personally, at least we can be happy it's not Hillary or Willy..

FQ, It's not a "fantasy" per se, BTDT! Wasn't impressed. Just used as a "figure of speech" in this context! Quit gettin' ur panties in a wad and I don't need a friggin' clue! I HAVE heard enough about her to form an opinion, and I HOPE LIKE HELL YOU DON'T LIKE IT!
Opinions are like Ass*holes, we all have them and they all STINK! You ALWAYS seem to take a side/subject and turn it into a/an history lesson that NOBODY wants to hear! Put in HELPFUL insight or STFU! :-*

Hey McGyver, be nice.
You'll make Eric Jealous ;D

I wrote a nice big reply to you, FQ, but it went into cyberspace and you're not even worth the history lesson!
I STILL weep for my country!

Guess it found it's way! :P

Let's see......, an academic, elitist, who banned the Military Recruiters from Harvard. Sheltered from the "real world", by her liberal, academic cohorts, played the game, and was patient.
Lesbian, .....whatever....I could care less. Replacing a Lib, with a BHO clone lib, is status quo for this POTUS.
The spin will be advocated, and enabled, by a willing press.
and she probably will be confirmed.......
Sad isn't it?

Hence, my "heading for the hills!"
TY!

From what I've read, it was her decision. She probably had cover help formulating the decision but she made it.
She clerked for Abe Mikva, one of the long-time Illinois uber-leftists on the bench (and who also mentored bho). Her judicial idol was Thurgood Marshall, for whom she worked. He was another one of those who never met a law he didn't want to make wider and more statist. Doubt he ever read the Constitution itself.
I think her being a lesbian matters, if for no other reason than the fact that it shows her mindset toward American traditions. To make it clear, FQ, it means she's agin' 'm.
She is also young - she will be the youngest on the bench, which means she will be around for a long, long time.
She also glossed over and exonerated 2 plagiarism cases at Harvard Law - cases that would have seen any of us expelled - even though both professors (both not surprisingly good uber-liberals) admitted the deed, took full responsibility, and in one case, blamed his assistants.
More to come, I am sure . . . .
-
Let me guess, The assistant was GW Bush ? ;D
-
C'mon, Tom! The "Bush" part WAS good though!
LMFAO! :-X

All I know about her I heard on the radio today, but if Obummer wants her in then I want her out.

AMEN! and GodBless!

Ladies and gentlemen, here endeth the lesson.

Chill man! The lesbian thing was a joke, and not at your expense. Hell, if girl on girl action wasn't a common fantasy, half the porn industry would be out of business. As far as the history lesson? Sometimes they are necessary. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that half of right wing talk radio will be slamming her for no judicial experience tommorow. I'll also bet that few of them mention Rehnquist when they do so. Hell, the only reason he got the gig was that he headed the SC selection team under Nixon when he had to replace Justice Harlan (not that he wasn't a damned effective Justice). They had trouble finding the right guy and Nixon was impressed with him and frustrated with the process. He just said essentially, "Screw it, hire that guy". (sort of like Cheney heading the VP selection team for W. ;D). As far as my opinion of her? Never heard of her before. The jury is out.

Back in the day when I indulged in such things, my girl on girl fantasies involved girls that looked like Angelina Jolie and Scarlett Johansen, not Rosie O'Donnell. YMMV tho, FQ, YMMV :o ::)
She hates the military (will have a good spin for it tho), she hates your "libertarian" beliefs (faux or otherwise) and she is a clone of bho whom you have professed to come to dislike. WTF - why is the jury still out? To hard to admit Tom is right? If bho wants her, we should all be against her. Period.

Path
I will try to respond without snark and within the bounds of good taste.
First, lets talk about taste. The idea of her (Kagan) and Janet Reno, Hillary Clinton and Linda Tripp in a mud wrestling event is enough to make swear off sex forever. (I know that's harsh, but its what you get for mentioning the words Rosie O'Donnel and fantasy in the same sentence. Right back at you.). ;D
Now, on to the snark free serious stuff:
I agree with the outrage shown against the assinine "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy. (Otherwise known as the "we'll pretend to be bigots if we have to, to keep Congress happy, as long as you lie about who you are" policy). Thing is, it isn't and wasn't the military's fault. To me, denying military recruiters the right to offer career opportunities to people because of politics is the same as denyng gays and lesbians the right to serve to score political points. Its BS and drags our Army into the culture wars to score poltical points. >:(
I call BS on both sides. Let the Army kill people and break things in an effecient manner and leave the rest of it at home. Her position on this is very close to a DQ in my opinion. YET, her job as the dean of a school is very different than the job of a Justice. Two different responsibilities. I am leaning strongly con after a bit of research, but I am willing to listen. The best take on her I've seen so far comes from Politico. I'll include the link.

Sorry, could not resist when I saw this picture FQ!

Kagan, 50, who was the first female dean of Harvard Law School, called the court an “extraordinary institution” that can help people in their everyday lives, “because law matters, because it keeps us safe, because it protects our most fundamental rights and freedoms and because it is the foundation of our democracy.”

Wrong, my carpet-munching friend. The Constitution is the foundation of our republic.

In her speech after BHO introduced her, she refereed to our Constitutional Democracy. Should we be worried the newest Supreme Court Justice nominee isn't sure what type of government the country has?

FQ if those
Women things would be what it takes to swear you off to sex. :o If I saw that I would, wow I am at a loss for words. Man I feel sick.
I would castrate myself.
As for her being a SCJ that is sad. She is the type to side against you just like the other liberals and say well FQ should not have shot that poor murderer he was just misunderstood.

But did you notice the Green behind the 2 heifers ? ;D

Now they're trying to say she isn't! "She just hasn't found the right man!" IE: She's too ugly for any man to go out with!
LMFAO! BHO yelling to all: "backstroke, folks, BACKSTROKE!"

I thought it was "Serpentine, Serpentine!. ;D This of course, interspersd with Rahm Emmanuel yelling "You bring me the motherfucking head of whoever didn't see this coming or I'll cut your dick off!".
FQ13 who is saddened but amused. Sometimes its fun to throw a brick through an upscale restraunt's window just to watch the yuppies scurry around like rats. ;)
PS I don't care who she sleeps with as long as its not me. ;D

Well FQ the rest of us are not going to do that either, but we have to have someone take one for the team.
Secret executive session to vote for FQ.

Only if you bring a boatload of viagra, a very good bottle of rum, lots of money and a pistol if I don't go through with it. Hell, G. Gordon Liddy volunteered to be assasinated for the team and ate a rat in pison. I think even he would decline this mission. ;D

This homey ain't playin' wingman for that!

Being wing man on this mission, just means you push him into the room and hold the door shut until the screaming stops.
It might look something like this.
