I can't be the only one who can't wait to see her handling an S&W wheelgun in competition. Sigh!!!!!
-
She is probably a very wealthy young lady at this point. S&W wants the best, already have Julie Golub, and this simply adds to the luster.
Good for her.
-
Smart move for S&W, congrats to Jessie!!
-
Did somebody mention "lust" and Jessie Abbate?

Did I say that out loud???

Ya beat me to it, Tommy! ;) ;D
-
Julie and Jessie on the same team.... Dang it! No more cross town rivalry between the 2 top shooters, 1 from Glock and 1 from S&W.
Oh well now let the one-ups-manship begin! This should be realllly fun.
-
S&W isn't stupid. They now have nearly complete control of ALL the action shooting venues. Between Julie and Jesse dominating women's and Jerry and Doug they have 3-Gun, Bianchi, and ICORE locked up. All of them shoot IDPA, USPSA, and Steel Challenge. I think only the AMU could even come close to beating them in as many disciplines.
-
I'd have been surprised if S&W HADN'T signed her on. Good for S&W! 8)

Are they talking to Todd Jarrett as well?

I saw recently (don't know where) that Jarrett has begun making his own 1911's and will be hawking them rather than for Para USA. Don't quote me, please!

Also a possibility he will be Shooting a Chiappa Rhino.

And break speed records doing it... ;D

And prove or disprove the concept

I hope she looks as good in blue as she does in black!!

She will, besides her good looks, those competitors of you out there who watch her, she's got it, not good for a girl, she is a great shooter, period. I predict will outshine Julie Golob, pretty quick, no offense to her, she is a great shooter too, maybe they will bring each other to another level. I like that.
I too have my hopes up for Randi Rogers, no slouch, and coming from the top of CAS shooting, takes a big learning curve, beyond shooting ability, some types of shooting is a game, and you need to learn the game to be competitive. USPSA, does not reward accuracy all that much in the match over speed, and the difference needs to be learned to win.
My best to all of the Women shooters.

I told my girl I'd leave her for Jesse. ;D

I have a question that our competitive shooters might be able to answer.
Why are there a man's and a woman's league in shooting? Does greater strength/endurance become more significant than shooting skill? Or is shooting skill itself affected by gender?
-
I think it is a hold over from the days when women did not compete against men, like in golf or tennis .

I can understand why there is a difference in golf and tennis.
The average woman will not be able to drive the ball as far as the average man in golf, nor will she be able to deliver a tennis serve as fast as an average man. Both due to strength.

Re: women vs men shooters
I just cant think of anything sexist to say right now.... I'm sure it will come to me. ;D
-
If you look though, the overall match scoring is gender neutral. The scores aren't posted by gender but by classification (Production, Stock Service, Revolver ect), then by level (A-D, Marksman, Expert, Master). There is a sub-class for gender and age but it doesn't factor into the shooter's score. Jesse, Julie et al ARE competing against everybody else and have on more than one occasion been on top overall. There is just a bias towards showing them seperately, makes for good TV.

From Wikipedia - Olympics shooting
When shooting was reintroduced in 1932, it consisted of only two events. From this, the number of events have increased steadily until reaching the 2000-2004 maximum of seventeen events. The 2008 games had only fifteen. Events marked as "Men's" were actually open events before the inclusion of separate women's events in that discipline. Two women won medals in such mixed events: Margaret Murdock, silver in 50 m Rifle Three positions (1976) and Zhan Shan, gold in Skeet (1992).
When the women started to win the boys got mad and changed the game.

When you bring the olympics into things, you have to remember Biathlon and how that is more then just a shooting event

Agreed!
Point to remember was Julie was the US Army Athlete of the year during her carrer. Men, women, don't ask...all of them ;)
-
Last summer I had the chance to shoot with Julie and one stage behind Jessie ... The view ain't bad from behind Jessie ;)
This was the highlight of my 2009 summer ... Nothing against your hospitality and "toys" Rastus, but you were up against tough competition. Even shooting tips from "The Great One" would have suffered in ratings if it weren't for the fact that Julie was standing between him and me.
I honestly don't think that the color change will harm anything ... I don't think you could do anything to harm her!
I look forward to more photos of Jessie in the Blue and White ... Did I hear that S&W was considering spandex for the fairer sex ;D

I think she lets her trophy husband do their taxes.

I'm not an expert on "trophy husbands," but even at my level of interest I think would would just classify him as "one lucky dude!"
A wife that enjoys the same hobbies as him, and she can make money ... lots of money at it! Seems to have a great personality, and the wrappings ain't bad either ;)
-
Getting caught back up on DRTV posts and saw this. I cannot believe Jessie is leaving Glock but Smith and Wesson is where the money is and I am sure she can make a Smith and Wesson M&P work as well as a Glock. Good for her cause she is the best Woman Shooter out there. I think the blue will look really sharp on her also. Then again, anything looks good on her.

Where do I apply for the trophy husband job ? ;D
