Got as far as him listing some immigrants, like Einstein, who have made contributions to America.

Some how I don't think those he listed were illegal aliens, which I think the rest of his speech was going to go on to support....

I know I am old, and the elementary school books I used were made out of wood, but I learned the Emma Lazarus/Statue of Liberty story in 3rd or 4th grade. It's the only reason I ever had any hope for the French.

You have hit the nail exactly on the head, the Left are not "Citizens of the US", they consider themselves to be "citizens of the world".

All due respect to Emma Lazarus and "The New Colossus", but its time we edited the thing as I said in earlier thread. My vote? "Give us your hardworking, skilled and law abiding. The rest can pound sand". Not as inspirational a sentiment granted, but one most of us can get behind.
