Title: Looking For A Job
Post by: billt on July 26, 2010, 11:12:40 AM
Tony started the day early having set his alarm clock
(MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 am.

While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking,
he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG)

He put on a d ress shirt (MADE IN SRILANKA), designer jeans
(MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA)

After cooking his breakfast in his new e lectric skillet

(MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator

(MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today.

After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio

(MADE IN INDIA)

He got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) filled it with GAS

(from Saudi Arabia) and continued his search for a good paying

AMERICAN JOB.

At the end of yet another discouraging a nd fruitless day checking

his computer (MADE IN MALAYSIA), Tony decided to relax for a

while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL), poured himself

a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE

IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying

job in AMERICA

AND NOW HE'S HOPING HE CAN GET HELP FROM HIS

PRESIDENT (MADE IN KENYA )

Sounds like Tony, needs.

Buy American clothes,
Get an American car
Drink California wine,
Get some American leather sandals,

Try to focus on Buying American.

I know it can be unavoidable with some items, but IMHO, I do make an attempt to limit foreign made goods.

I try like hell but it's getting more and more difficult to buy exclusively American made anything.

Especially since the wife can't keep her ass out of Wally World...

And I don't care for bourbon or Jack Daniels...... ;D

Drink Michigan wine.  We need the commerce more than Kalifornia.

Drink California wine

Between the antics of Pelosi, Feinstein, Boxer, and Schwarzenegger, I almost feel more comfortable supporting France.  Bill T.

Chile and Argentina make some good wine

NY wines seem to be OK.
France, Ca, NY, raises the question "aren't there any normal places producing wine ?"
We know the CIA tested LSD on the Bay area, and France has always been messed up, so they have an excuse.  But what happened to screw NY up so bad ?
Come to think of it I'm surprised Boston, Chitcago, and DC do not produce wines.   ;D

As a wine snob, I have enjoyed the three fingers region of NY wine, it's about as far from Bloomberg as you can get.

Chile, Argentina, Australia, far outweigh, europe. Their soil has been so over used, it renders their swill to expensive grape juice.

Aussie's hired away experts, and have produced fantastic wines,

Kalifornia, OK is a tough call. there are real farmers, real winemakers, real experts, and NAPA, Russian River, Paso Rolbles, Alexander Valley, Sonoma, are just far enough away from the Berkley crowd to know reality, from a business perspective.

Let Mexico have the Southern half.

Plus my Uncle owns and runs an oyster farm on Tomales Bay, just outside of NAPA.

Salud,....I'll have another Pinot Noir AMERICAN WINE!!!

Alright,,,your old fashioned,.....we'll ride with that,...St. Francios Merlot, nothing has been as good as 94, 97,99, 01, but it's $12.00 and just fine with a great steak or pasta. Murphy-Goode, is another great Merlot. FROM AMERICA.

keep the alcohol content at 13.5% OR HIGHER,  sugar ferments better at that level...less headache,...better flavor.

At least its a red wine... ;D

I love this place! Where else can you post a joke about the high unemployment rate, and wind up having a conversation about wine, without some "moderator" getting a Woodie over it?   ;D   Bill T.

We do what we do best, don't we?  :)  ;D

And you're right, though....and that's why I stuck around after a visit or two. This forum actually runs like a normal conversation in a bar would go....rambling about, away and back to given topics.

Cool Place, eh?

Try Cruzan Rum. Its made in the US Virgin Islands (there was one spotted as recently as the '50s ;D). It goes well with US made Coke.

No thanks.....we've discussed rum already...  I'll stick to my un-American single malt thank you very much...... ;)

A very well aged, single casked, Makers Mark would suit me but it's getting as expensive as good scotch these days.

p.s...  FQ, you drink like a little girl....rum and coke, mojitos....geez... ;D  Almost as bad as a US Marine drinking peach wine coolers.....

Almost true. I really prefer good beer. If I can't get it do to space constraints (boating, camping etc.), I'll go with liquor, but I really don't like it very much  (the exception being a margarita, mojito or G@T on a really hot day). Thus the mixers. The only thing I like straight is a good anejo tequila.  The only reason I like that is that its not sweet, its strong, and is great without ice, making it the perfect backpacking beverage.
FQ13 who will drink what he wants and is not out to impress anybody.

We used Golden Grain (because it was cheap and we were broke). It is made by the same folks that make Everclear. Being a neutral-grain alcohol, it is distilled to 190 proof (191 is as far as it can go in the distillation process) and 95% ethanol.
Basically legal moonshine.

And, a little goes a looooong way.   8)

Two shot is almost equal to five shots of regular 80 proof booze. It mixes well with Powerade too. Gotta stay hydrated you know.

We had a concoction called "Swamp Frog".

You can play with it to suit your taste, but the basics are:

Green Gatorade- 3 gallons or so
Sprite- 2 liters or so
Frozen lemonade concentrate- 2 cans
Frozen lime concentrate- 2 cans
Golden Grain- 2 bottles
Lemons- sliced
Limes- sliced

All mixed with ice in a large igloo cooler

Tart----with a little 'knock-you-on-ya-ass' to it.  8)

Everclear = Government wealth!

All this stuff consists of is non poisoned Ethanol. Or as our politically correct government would call it, "non denatured". You can buy it at the pump for around $3.75 to $4.25 a gallon, which by the way includes road taxes, state taxes, federal highway taxes, and a host of other taxes. Or.........., you can buy a Fifth, (now it's a smaller 750 ML bottle), of it for around...........$22.00. It isn't a "Sin Tax". It's a sin the way the government wastes the money. By the way, 1 U.S. Gallon = 3,785.41178 Milliliters. So Everclear runs right around $111.00 a gallon.  Bill T.
